Lindsey Graham Censured By SC County GOP For Working With Democrats On Climate Bill

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Republican leaders in a South Carolina county have censured their own U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham for working with Democrats on a climate bill and other legislation.

The Republican has often worked with Democrats in Congress, but Charleston County Chairwoman Lin Bennett says his work on climate legislation is the last straw.

The party resolution passed Monday says Graham has weakened the Republican brand. Bennett expects a similar resolution to be introduced at the state GOP convention next year.

Graham spokesman Kevin Bishop says Graham is looking for a way forward on energy legislation.

Good to know that the GOP is still all about country first. Of course, at their convention last fall, there were no banners I could see with the word "republican" written on them. All I saw was Country First. My how quickly they forget.

All I can say is that South Carolina is making Mississipi look really good. You expect a Senator to do something besides vote no all the time. I think if they take a good look Lindsey Graham has accomplished a great deal. A person who doesn't make some mistakes usually does not make anything. What have all those conservatives really accomplished? The Republican party was once the party of Lincoln, a very liberal party at one time. Now they are managed by the white supremists are running really scared. It will be a real disgrace if they don't get back to some more liberal policies for the good of the country.

Its so lovely, rainbows and pretty birds when something is accomplished in a bipartisan way. Unfortunately Graham forgot to look into all the damage this Gore climate bunk is going to do to our country in even more job losses and ever mounting debt. If Graham goes thru with this he needs to be defeated in the next election by a Conservative.

It's hard to "look into" a myth. Try reading some books and watching something other than Faux Gnus.

The Republican civil war continues.

The meeting at which they passed this resolution was rather contentious, with the hard-liners forcefully arguing their case. It's already available to watch:

As a North Carolinian, I had always thought of the SC Senator to be conservative, right wing and not really my cup of tea. I may have to rethink that. Lately, he has shown himself to be an independent thinker and not held captive by the right wing fringe.

To answer your question..."money from big business."
The GOP and some Dems, are more than happy to trade their ethics for re-election contributions and perks.

Whatever campaign contributions dems have accepted, I don't see the majority of them being pursuaded by those contributions ! To have cut to size insurance cos. by prohibiting them from arbitrarily dumping people out of coverages for pre-existing conditions is in and of itself HUGE !
