Fort Hood Salute

The Plum Line:

The headline on the new Rasmussen poll is this: "60% Want Fort Hood Shooting Investigated as Terrorist Act."

But the more interesting news, buried in the internals, is that a solid majority, or 57%, is very or somewhat concerned that the shooting will trigger a backlash against Muslims in the armed forces.

What is that supposed to mean, "investigate as a terrorist act?" I got an idea., and I know it'll sound crazy, but lets try doing the investigation before coming to conclusions.

How about prosecuting as a Hate Crime,,,, How about the fact that the military had to ignore all the signs because they didn't want to be accused of discrimination,....... Profiling is good

sure it is...that's why we see the right whine and moan when homeland security comes out with a report warning of right wing violence...typical right wing flip floppery.

warning of right wing violence? Did any of it actually happen?

There already is a backlash against Muslims.
Read the story of Marine Reservist Jasen Bruce. He bashed a man with a tire iron. Claimed the man was an "Arab Terrorist" who had tried to rob him.
Turns out, the man was actually a Greek Orthodox Priest named Alexios Marakis who was lost and trying to ask for directions.
Christian supremacist proselytizing is already rampant across the U.S. military.
Stories like this are going to become more commonplace.

One case = rampant?

Rasmussen, again with another drunk dialing poll of land line and 8-track tape deck owners. The only people of color in their polls just got back from watching a 500 mile NASCAR race without wearing a hat or any sunscreen.

How come rasmussen was the most accurate in 2008?

Stay ignorant, it's the liberal polls that over sample democrats for headlines with their buddies in the media.

The backlash will result in how successful the radical right is able to engage their mindless legions of drones into acts of violence.

When Americans react with hatred and violence towards Muslims, then they are ensuring that shooter has succeeded with his mission!

Actually, the normal ones are reacting because of self-preservation, the liberals are suicidal lemmings.

Next week Barry Obama plans to apologize to the British for America's "aggression" during the Revolutionary War.

Sheez.

The British are a long time apologizing to the rest of the world for painting it red with innocent blood.

we're glad we're fortunate enough to live in a country that gives a damn about it's citizens...whether they be Muslim or not. These are American's they're worried about receiving backlash...it's kind of hard for the right to accept that there's many American's who are Muslims as well.

It's amazing how the military can ferret out thousands and thousands of high rated Gay soldiers every year, but doesn't have the personel to investigate someone who essentially brags about being a Jihadist over and over at meetings, on the web and to all his colleagues. One who is so low rated, that no one would ever retain him in the so-called private sector. Who was kept on partially because of a shortage due to the fact that Gay soldiers were being thrown out.

A simple solution: move the thousands of military investigators who are looking at soldiers' sex lives, and retrain them to look for murderers and wachos who plan mass murders, and psychos who threaten other soldiers. No new money will be needed.

The same investigators are responsible for both.

America's Right Wing and Obama's unwillingless to take them on is why America spends millions tossing gays from the military while overlooking potential terrorists.

It says something really good about our country.
Unfortunately, some will see this as a negative thing -- proof of abundant prejudice against people just because of their origin.

Here is an idea.

Why don't we worry about safety first.

Then we can worry about the awesome sanctimony of political correctness and worship of cultural diversity later.

Liberals worry about a "backlash" before the shock of a catastrophe has barely begun to sink in. I don't understand their priorities.

they already investigate that. Now it is time to ask, do you want to kill your fellow soldiers?, or do you want to sabotage the mission?

Perhaps after Timothy McVeigh we should have had a witch hunt against all republicans? They all hate the government.

This is the same reasoning that led to the Japanese camps in the 40s. It didn't work then and it wouldn't work now. As a matter of fact, in this case it would make the situation worse. When you turn this into a crusade against Islam, you justify the actions of all the Muslim extremists.

Talk to any person with light brown skin who was living in the U.S. after 9-11. Ask that person about their experiences in stores, at schools, job hunting, or simply doing anything in public. You will hear about several outrageous incidents.

As for liberals and premature worry about backlash, you are too late:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20091110/us-priest-attacked/

There is plenty of reason for concern about the safety of innocent people.
