Brooke Hundley Discusses Steve Phillips Affair On "GMA" (VIDEO)

HARTFORD, Conn. — (Associated Press) A former ESPN production assistant whose affair with broadcaster Steve Phillips led to their firings says she confronted his wife only so he would stop pursuing her.

Brooke Hundley told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Thursday that she never stalked the baseball analyst and that he harassed her, not the other way around. Both were fired in October after the affair became public.

In a statement, ESPN told ABC that its investigation found Hundley's characterization of the events as inconsistent.

Phillips acknowledged his relationship with the 22-year-old Hundley, and the details were splashed across New York tabloids for days.

Telephone messages were left Thursday for Hundley, Bristol, Conn.-based ESPN and Phillips' spokesman. Phillips' wife, Marni, declined to comment.

This young woman and her self-serving behavior make me sick. There are real cases of sexual harassment that will be damaged by her self-centered, immature behavior.

She didn't even have the grace to accept responsibility for scaring the cr@p out his wife, the truly innocent party of this debacle, or how it is affecting their children. After reading her letter, I have zero sympathy for her.

Many of the posts here reflect a very sad value that exists in our society where people are judged by their physical looks. Not only are they judging this woman by her looks, they are making cruel jokes because she doesn't live up to the physical perfection that today's media has bottle-fed to the public. I wonder how many of the posters that have made these comments can meet the criteria that they are judging Brooke Hundley by? And, I wonder how they would feel if they were suddenly thrust into the national spotlight and were the recipient of 100's or 1000's of similar remarks?

It is curious how many of these posters have so little to say about this issue except to make one-liners about the woman's appearance. Are there really this many HP readers who are this one-dimensional, insecure, juvenile, and without any informed opinion? That is scary. Why are these kinds of people even reading articles at this site? Shouldn't they be out shooting something, or watching TV? In the very least they should be more at home commenting on a right wing site. They all sound like Fox News drones anyway.

I totally agree and fan Okieborn.

There was an imbalance of power and authority. As such, this is exploitation. Professional boundaries were violated by Phillips. He had a responsibility to maintain his professional boundaries. It makes no difference if she came on to him or he came on to her; the responibility lies with him.

And please, don't even try to dispute it. Just google Professional Sexual Misconduct. In fact, it woud behoove our politicians to do a bit of googling of this subject.

When there is workplace sexual harassment, filing a complaint with HR is the appropriate method to begin handling the situation. If HR refuses to do anything, hire a lawyer and have a suit filed against the company for refusing to address the complaint. She used inappropriate methods to deal with her inappropriate situation. Seems that she was more a willing co-conspirator than victim.
