OSLO -- Peter W. Galbraith, an influential former American ambassador, is a powerful voice on Iraq who helped shape the views of policy makers like Joseph R. Biden Jr. and John Kerry. In the summer of 2005, he was also an adviser to the Kurdish regional government as Iraq wrote its Constitution -- tough and sensitive talks not least because of issues like how Iraq would divide its vast oil wealth.

There is no need to advocate for the break up of Iraq. It's already done.

federal career conditional employees are held to a high standard

why aren't federal political appointees held to the same or greater standard?

hold politically elected officials and their political appointees accountable

Problem is of course if you don't enforce standards, they really don't mean anything.

gee tell me why this is news....i wonder how many people have their hands in the cookie jar....oil runs industry and petro dollars line the pockets of the wheelers and dealers in the and around the oil business at every level....corruption enough to make a lot of people rich. it will be interesting to see who benefits when the dollar is no longer used to buy oil. watch the price of gold rise as the dollar fades...if the US were smart it would be looking for a "world currency" to replace the dollar while it is still worth something.....i'm buying Euros while i can.

Everyone got their knickers in a twist when the UN fired this guy in Afghanistan. Maybe they knew something others didn't.

Indeed he was.

You're probably one of them pesky Wisconsin progressives or worse - one of those followers of Zeidler.

How can you live with yourself?

To shut your ears to the plaintive cries of millions (yes millions) of barrels of Iraqi oil wanting to be free.

Yeah, No Blood For Oil (unless you're a Democrat).

I love how the Times article says that Biden doesn't advocate the breakup of Iraq--which may be true now, but it sure was his position when he campaigned for President. I wonder why didn't interview Biden: "Did Peter Galbraith convince you that breaking up Iraq was the best policy? Did he disclose to you that he stood to reap a hundred million dollars if you were elected and implemented that policy?"

Well,as compassionate conservatives, Peter and I certainly heard the cries of millions of barrels of Iraqi oil yearning to be free.

Sadly, apparently you did not.

If I listen closely at night just before I drift off to sleep, I can hear those plaintive sobs of Iranian oil.

Forward Christian soldiers!
