Glad to hear it, we aren't using the internet like we were then. Improving the infrastructure to suit current and future usage is overdue.

With other advances like CSS3 and HTML5 allowing developers to side step javascript and flash, this will really speed up the web.

Oh yeah, don't use IE because it dosen't support HTML5 like Chrome, Safari and now Firefox.

This is why tech articles are such a nuisance to read, even when they're accurate about the tech:

"While HTTP is an 'elegantly simple protocol' that has powered the web since 1996, the tone of Google’s post is almost patronizing, as if HTTP were our doddering old uncle that’s had his day and needs to be put out to pasture. Then again, Google’s hubris is perhaps warranted ..."

Ambition that is warranted by ability is, by definition, not "hubris" ffs. And these authors should be able to use electronic dictionaries, thesauri, etc MORE adeptly than everybody else, yet their writing is the absolute worst!

Oh god not another thing i have to get all new stuff for.

The matrix could have started 10 years ago and I'd have been happy.

You won't have to get new anything. However if your still using Internet Explorer i recommend switching to firefox or chrome, either will consume 5 minutes to setup, and run much faster.

Using a racist toon character to promote this? Was it google, or HP that picked this pic to represent this?

Wow dude - lighten up. Unless of course your entire life has been purged of similar stereotypical trappings, including harmful things like cars and food consumption.

Well, I opened the link to the article on "mashable.com" and from there opened all of the four links to Google Chromium pages, and saw no cartoon. If you right-click on the image:

... no mention of where it was copied from.
