Whoopi Goldberg Calls Carrie Prejean 'Bitchy,' Joy Spars With Elisabeth On "The View" (VIDEO)

"The View" heated up Thursday morning over Carrie Prejean and her interview Wednesday night with Larry King.

Prejean called King "inappropriate" and threatened to walk off his show after he pried about why she settled her lawsuit with the Miss California pageant.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shephered attempted to defend Prejean, arguing that King shouldn't have pushed her on the subject because he should have known it was off-limits. Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, however, thought Prejean handled herself poorly.

"All I'm asking is, be fair to her," Elisabeth said.

"You know what, she's also got to be fair," Whoopi responded. "We had her on the show, we asked legitimate questions. And maybe they were not the most comfortable, but she was a little bitchy, I have to say....so I'm a little cranky at her."

"I think what she is experiencing is a little of a backlash that maybe is unwarranted in some ways, and she is fighting for her life at this point," Elisabeth said.

"She's the one who put herself out there, she didn't have to write the book!" Joy shot back. "She can go into hiding, nobody would care. They'd say, 'Oh that pretty girl, what happened to her?'"

"Why do you hate her so much?" Elisabeth asked Joy.

"I don't hate her, I hate hypocrisy," Joy responded. "I don't hate her, Elisabeth. Don't say that. It has nothing to do with hate."

Elizabeth apparently dismisses everyone in critical care, including our soldiers in active combat zones, when she describes tough questions and criticism as "fighting for her life." I realize she was a beauty queen, but is she really that fragile?

In one sense, Carrie might have a point. And that is that someone like Bill O'Reilly can sexually harass an employee and the media completely ignores it save Olbermann. But Carrie does a few dozen fisting tapes and everyone wants to talk about it. It's so unfair.

First, I'm no fan of Elizabeth. She has the easiest job in the world; all she has to do is repeat rightwing talking points she hears on Faux News, and we know how often they are wrong. As for Miss Hand Jive, you should listen to the tape TMZ has of the telephone conversation they had with the man who received the tapes. He met Carrie on the internet through a friend, and apparently his only meeting with her was the four days they spent together in San Diego. It was not a long love affair as she has indicated. It started when she was 19, almost 20. She sent him tapes and pictures, then would call him, looking for compliments on herself. The man said Carrie lies all the time, and she called him trying to convince him to lie and said the tape was when she was 17. In essence, Carrie tried to extort money from the pageant inasmuch as she lied about all her nudity, and then sued the pageant for bogus reasons because they fired her. This is not how a nice person acts.

Yeah, the "she's in a fight for her life." comment is unfortunate, but I do agree with her more than Joy or Whoopi and that is just so very WEIRD for me. Proves what an asset to the show she is and the genius in mixing up thoughtful commentartors from different points of view.

There is no fight for her life here. She is fighting for credibility - which, like integrity, she does not have. How many lies has she been caught in now, beginning with the "I didn't know my breasts were showing" in the photograph where the wind (which did not blow her hair) amazingly opened her vest? How moral has she shown herself to be allthewhile quoting the Bible, and the pointing out the sins of others? Says she made a single bad error in judgement at age 17, which turns out to be several such errors at ages 20 and 21. I agree with Joy - I hate hypocrisy. The best thing that ever happened to this little self indulgent superficial tramp has been the uproar over her answer during the competition. It has given her much more than her 15 minutes of fame, and much, much more attention than she deserves.

Not exactly, Elizabeth. The people out of work, trying to feed, clothe and address the health needs of their families, the homeless, the soldiers in combat, the kids growing up in despair in our inner cities...

These are just a few of the kinds of people fighting for their lives in this country and around the world.

A pouty pagent runner-up with a home-movie she didn't want her parents and grandparents to see is NOT fighting for her life. She is on a gravy train.
