and it does not say on the news yet but there has been a dozen or more dead, the supporters were in tears, a pregnant woman was assaulted in the streets of Cairo, were sold to fans that Algerian food and water have exceeded the expiration date, it refused to carry the fans just because they were Algerian .... Brief November 14 was the hunt for Algerians in the streets of Cairo, it never would have happened to us ... who said that Egypt is a brotherly country? a brother country would never act that way, these events are finally open the eyes of Algerians who consider themselves Arabs or they are not and have never had finally ,18 and especially if Algeria loses, I swear that the Algerian fans lynch Egyptian gold for their country they are fearful and cowardly, but the Algerians were not''''history shows. "
anyway, the case is more a history of football but more and Fifa has its share of responsibility in all this, the Algerian people right now about to expel all Egyptian resident Algeria and destroy everything they owned as Djezzy operator such Orascom, Egypt Air ...
and this football game became a game of dignity ... I hope we win this game because they do not deserve it after all.
CASE TRACKING

IN ALGERIA they were greeted with flowers BUT THEM we were welcomed with stones, we took other steps to ensure their safety while they had nothing to fear "- as they themselves had remained arms folded, watching the Algerian lynched by those wild and even that Egyptian authorities were complicit !;;;; supporters show on youtube ...
then "what would have happened if they had lost the game" God knows "there's no doubt they would have killed our players! .. 'but they won after wounded and traumatized our players" what cowardice on their part! "

shameful!! i am ashamed of Egypt and its soccer fanatics! Even when the Algerians have not been nice to the when they played there. barbaric to say the least, but that's how Mubarak wants. In Egypt, soccer is the opium of the nation. Glad i am no longer an addict!

Seems like a pretty easy fix to me; just start playing these game at neutral sites. Problem solved.

Where is the soccer coverage on Huffpost? MLS playoffs have been going on, and not one mention. David Beckham's Galaxy have advanced to the final. Meanwhile, soccer all around the world is going through some really major events, like the World Cup qualifiers, UEFA Champions League, etc. When is Huffpost going to get on the stick? Hell, just hire me to be your soccer writer, so I can correct this ASAP.

Soccer is a boring and disgusting sport that brings out the worst in people.

As though having the #1 team in Africa wasn't enough for the Egyptians.

They were never #1. Nigeria is #1

well, based on the fact that they won the most international tournaments, i'd say they're #1, FIFA rating don't take that into consideration, and i think it's silly.

The Egyptians and Algerians are acting like nuts in the whole thing.

Egyptians throwing rocks at Algerian players and Algerians setting fire to shops and cars in France and injuring scores of people in Marseille (!!) after losing 2-0 to Egypt yesterday (see link).

Ignorance, unemployment and being brainwashed by their Governments.

For the record, the Egyptian govt granted 2000 visas for Algerian citizens to visit for the match. Of those who returned already, 150 Algerian fans were injured, and 1 was killed. This isn't the first time Egyptians have revealed a nasty, brutish skin- one could find istances like this from many nations that have engaged with Egypt, excluding Europe and America. Im talking, Sudan, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco. One would very likely find the majority of Africa supporting Algeria against Egypt because of Egypt's dark legacy.
And that's the way Hosni Mubarak likes it.

Well, as far as I know Egypt Air office in Algiers was burnt down after the match. I also understand 27 Egyptains have been injured by Algerian soccer fans in Algiers after the match and that the Egyptian Government have called the Algerian Embassedor to complain and ask for the protection of Egyptians in Algeria. I also understand that the report of any killings in Egypt has been denied by the Algerian Foreign Affairs.

You need to calm down and look at matters from both sides. Listen, what I'm saying both sides have their own fanatics and afterall it is just a soccer match.

Somehow I find it hard to believe that this just happened spontaneously. Someone put them up to it and they should be prosecuted. Think Tea Bag.

Disqualify the Egyptian team. Maybe this will teach the entire country that the actions of a few hooligans have real consequences. I'm sure there were many people who supported what these criminals did. Let them all be shamed. Soccer is just a game, after all.

if we disqualified every football team based on the actions of a few hooligans there would not be an English Premier League.

Both teams are African and will represent Africa in the WC, the "arab world" thing is getting pretty old.

I wonder if Hosni mubarak was ever subjected to 200 hundred "youths" throwing stones at his car . The egyptian police were just part of it, just plain careless or incompetent. As far as egypt and soccer , they always want to win at any price including violence . The north african countries are specialist in faking injuries on the other hand. ( an art by itself and some argue part of the game).
By the way i think the egyptian are by far more talented soccer players then the algerians but just for what happened , I am rooting for algeria in Sudan now.

What is wrong with soccer fans they seem to be easily swayed to the mob mentality and a bit nuts if you ask me. Not all fans do this but some just take the game watching way to far.
Is there some problem between Egypt and the algerians that I have not heard about, or is this attack about the sports fans?

Yes there is history between the two sides dating back to the qualification for the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. There were bad scenes at the end of that match as well, as the Algerian national football team missed out by a single goal after both legs were played.
