National smoothie chain Jamba Juice has launched a fundraising campaign to benefit school PTAs, the Orange County Register reported.

School PTAs who sign up for Sip To Support Schools: Jamba's School Appreciation Program can get free "swipe cards" to pass out to family and friends. Each time these cards are scanned by the cashier, 10 percent of the sale will be given back to the school the card is linked to. On top of that, Jamba Juice will give an additional two percent to the National PTA for each purchase. The company is aiming for $1 million in donations to U.S. schools through the program, which was launched Monday as part of the National PTA's Healthy Lifestyles Month.

Jamba officials are encouraging local PTAs to use their school's proceeds on activities that promote healthy eating and exercise, but the funds are not restricted to this use.
Also as part of the kick-off, Jamba helped the National PTA award 45 schools nationwide with grants of up to $1,000 each to support healthy lifestyle initiatives.
