The Plum Line:

One of the whackiest claims Sarah Palin makes in her new book is that she agreed to her disastrous interview with Katie Couric -- a central event during Campaign 2008 -- because a top McCain aide told her Couric had low self esteem, leading Palin to take pity on the CBS anchor.

A McCain adviser I just spoke to adamantly denied the claim, and provided a counter story: Palin was repeatedly urged by McCain aides to prepare for the interview, but refused.

That explains why the interview was pitiful.

LOL. Seriously folks. Does she even have a clue as to how shrill
she sounds? She did it out of pity? Holy smokes. You're kidding me.
Couric is very well-respected. This is too much.

Yes very well respected Couric called Sarah "cool, calm and collected under
very difficult circumstances."

Sure, as we have watched hundreds of comments just vanish because of opinions we don't want to hear.

CBS ought to rerun the Palin interview this week. The big "gotcha" moment was when Couric asked Palin what papers she reads, and Palin couldn't even fake an answer.

Anyway, Palin doesn't matter. The lesson to be learned from Palin is how she vividly illustrates John McCain's grotesque view of the world and his venal motives, and how they represent the motives of the Republican Party. John McCain's choosing Palin was not only unpatriotic, it was an act of aggression.

Conservatives have a low opinion of government and it shows. No wonders every time a conservative is in office, they treat it as a way to get rich and enrich those they deem worthy of being on their level of importance.

She did the interview to elevate her profile. You pity someone who cannot answer a simple question, like "what newspapers do you read?"

Palin has got it all wrong. Pathetic people don't pity others, they get pitied by others.

Despite Palin’s words: “Don’t let anyone tell you to sit down and shut up” .. Sarah and her Publishers are trying to ’shut up’ a blog that has quoted her from her book …

The great thing about Palin is that it's really easy to tell when she's lying. It's whenever her lips are moving.

I expect that is exactly why she got the interview, certainly why Katie only lobbed softballs in her general direction ... pity ... or as we say in sailoreze ... a mercyf&%k

No kidding! Statements like this cement the fact that Palin is not ready for prime time. Her level of communication is more on the level of that of a small town councilman--MAYBE.
