Al Gore

Sun Sentinel:

Former Vice President Al Gore's global-warming speech Saturday night at Mizner Park drew about a thousand attendees, as well as more than 200 loud protesters.

Stationed outside the Mizner Park Amphitheater, the protesters jeered at Gore as he took the podium and at those walking into the open-air venue to listen to the speech.

Anyone else find it interesting that one of the places that would be most affected by a modest sea level rise is so vocal against climate change?

Also many of the places which are most opposed from health care reform have the most to gain from it. I can only conclude that they'd rather hurt themselves than help someone they fear is undeserving.
12:42 PM on 11/18/2009
We are against bigger more oppressive and far more expensive government. That's the bottom line.
12:41 PM on 11/18/2009
In a couple of years it will be a global cooling scam and leftists will be warning of cities buried in ice.

Let's ask the dinasours. They obviously had a problems with the global warming summit during their time. Was it the cap and trade they couldn't agree upon, or was it their rich ruling class driving the SUV's that eventually led to their demise?

cap and trade is dead right now!

I'm sure they are still trying to breathe life into it. Any way they can get their hand in our pocket.

The CBO says that the current cap and trade plan will provide a savings for low and middle income families.

03:11 AM on 11/17/2009
it's funny so many claim to be protecting our children and their children from horrible debt while they try to derail health care,
10:32 AM on 11/17/2009
If this health care scam was so good they wouldn't need to demand it or else.

Where is the uproar over the Goracle not allowing the press at this event?

You mean the press who wrote the article this thread is about? I'd say you were mistaken about them being barred from attending. Why is it that you thought they were? Did you fall for cable "news" word play which made it seem like he does the same thing as crazyPalin?

While Gore passionately speaks of 'hot air,' all these protesters can do is make hot air of their own. There is more to life than higher taxes and when the time comes, taxes will be the least of our concerns. Besides, countries with the highest taxes, tend to rank higher on the freedom index, conversely, countries with the lowest taxes, Kuwait for example have a tendency to have greater restrictions on an individual's personal freedoms.
08:51 PM on 11/16/2009
Kuwait is a tiny country sitting on a sea of oil. like Brunri. Hardly a representative example.

I appreciate emphirical data. I wish the Tea Baggers did, but these people are the same ones who deny evolution, believe the earth is flat and believe that man never was actually on the moon.

Their idea of freedom of speech is that their speech should be heard over yours.
08:52 PM on 11/16/2009
The left has been doing that for fourty years. Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.

Forty years is a long time and there may be something somewhere, but based on your track record for being wrong I'm going to go ahead and ask you provide some examples of the "left" doing the same thing. One incident per decade is sufficient.

Here is the challenge. Look at the actual temperature data and give us your opinion about it. Not some screwy English Lord's viewpoint. Not George Will's. Or Al Gore's. Yours. Does the global temperature graph have a markedly upward swing, over the long haul, in your opinion? Or not?

http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/

Note: You will have to scroll down and make some choices of what you want to look at. It shouldn't be a problem. You have a mind of your own, right?

CO2 = 1/25th of 1% of the atmosphere. if you really believe a trace compound is going to doom us all, i have beach front propoerty in arizona for sale. 168 billion tons of co2 is dumped into the skies every year, less than 10 billion tons can be attributed to man. so unless you greenies can stop the plankton in the sea and volcanoes, please stop peddling this insanely idiotic line of grabage to me.

what you have is at best a correlation. no increase in temperature since 1998 according to the UN's international panel on climate change.

the temperature of the planet is FAR FAR FAR more dependant on solar activity (flares, spots) than CO2. so go back to the drawing board, earase the picture of polar beats you drew, and come up with a way to beat the sun, the volcanoes, and plankton, and get back to me.

THIS "Trace" element, can effect the WORLD, the chemistry in our atmosphere is very specific, we are lucky to have it. To believe that we can just throw anything at it is foolish and VERY un-scientific of you

you think youre the only one who can post links? 1/25th of 1% is a trace element. the chemistry of our atmosphere is CONSTANTLY changing..it isnt constant. so to call it 'very specific' is not only scientificly wrong, it's borderline lunacy.

This is what bothers me, they brought with them drums and bullhorns. Typical of the town hall meetings this summer, they don't really want the truth, they simply want to drown it out. What bothers me is that they scream about freedom and the constitution and rights, all while they continue to usurp the rights of others!

Lord Monckton? THE Lord Monckton? 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley? Now there is a real piece of work for you. If you really want to learn how to twist a graph to make it fit your conclusion, that is the guy to go to. If you want to find out the truth about something, not so much.
