What's Your Reaction?

On CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday, White House senior adviser David Axelrod responded to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's criticism of the president. Romney expressed incredulity that President Obama had not made up his mind on Afghanistan.

"Why is it taking so long?" host John King asked.

"Governor Romney has to choose one argument of another," Axelrod responded. "Either he has to say he is not paying attention or he has to say he is taking too long because he has been involved in a rigorous review ... You know, I know that Governor Romney has never had responsibility for any decision akin to this, so he just may not be familiar with all that it entails."

Mitt couldn't inject the conservative agenda in Massachusetts; how effective of a pres. do you think he could be?

Something like a brain freeze happens when I see Romney. It's his total stiffness.

Obama has also never had to make such a decision... and he is avoiding having to make such a decision as much as he possibly can.

George Junior never had to make that kind of decision either, but he chose to charge in like a bunch of drunken cowboys on their way to the saloon for a gunfight.
Worked out really well, didn't it?
Maybe this time you cowboys might have a few sober thoughts before you charge into battle again.

I saw John King/s show...Axelrod did not slam Romney...Romney slammed the President. Axelrod did infer that Romney has never had this level of responsibility and apparently does not understand how things work at this high level. To tell the truth, it just appears that Romney is trying to get some attention because Palin is getting it all right now...so he had to come out and say something outrageous!!! Just say'n!!!

Have the five (5) Romney boys ang the many other Romney family military eligible men signed up for the military yet?

Or are they in some foreign country trying to sign poor uneducated people up to wear the magic shorts?

Just asking.

Have the two Obama children enrolled in the DC public schools, for which they are eligible, and to which their parents gladly consign thousands of poor minority children?

Gov. Romney is simply trying to show how small a man (read: conservative) he can be.

Mitt should be respectful to his betters.

Of course, that doesn't narrow the field down much, does it?

Mitt has an MBA and Law Degree from Harvard. He is a self-made Multi-millionaire. He was Governor of a state. He is a self made man. Obama is an Affirmative Action baby. How in the world can Obama be Mitt Romney's better. He was a community organizer and never made a penny with his big time Haqrvard law degree. I'm a trial lawyer and we call people like Michelle and Barrack "LINO's". LAWYERS IN NAME ONLY! Getting a law degree and passing a bar exam does not make you a "real lawyer." Mitt Romney is Obama's better...and tha's coming from a black man!! Obama was just put in office by the white media.

What you failed to understand is that as President he is privy to security and military information that old Mitt as well as the general public are not. The President's decision will not be based on a fly by night opinion.

I understand that perfectly well. Are you saying that, were Romney elected president in 2012, he would NOT have the same access to intelligence information?

What's your point?

What's Axelrod's point?

Was he claiming, in 2008, that Obama had never had any significant experience either?

I suppose you made that same argument in President Bush's favor when the Democrats were criticizing his decisions?

Boy, are you folks funny! You should try out for circus clowns...

Obama IS President...and has been for quite some time....quite a bit longer than Mitt has.

Too bad that corner you painted yourself into, doesn't have a trap door.

Romney criticizing the President for carefully analyzing the complicated situation in Afghanistan is a bit ludicrous. He should at least wait to see what policy develops out of the President's discernment. By doing this Romney comes across as someone trying to gain political advantage rather than a thoughtful leader.

5 sons and not one served in the military, let alone in a war zone. Romney is the ultimate chckenhawk -- willing to put others in harm's way but not willing to accept any risk himself.

Typical republican - Dick Cheney, Rummy, even Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly - none of them have any guts to protect their country.

Yeah! Mit is totally right! Everyone knows that "war planning" is not something that should be carefully considered and deliberated over. I mean, what kind of a president carefully weighs the pros and cons of making strategic decisions in a time of war? And, why does this president need to take time to think about what we want to accomplish and the best ways to go about it?
I think Mit makes a great point. We only need to look back at the recent successes of last administration when they decided not to carefully analyze intelligence, debate "worst-case" scenarios or think about post-combat strategies. We don't need thinkers as presidents - we need the kind of fortitude to go ahead and make decisions without thinking of the possible consequences! Just make a decision - and if it turns out bad, just accuse any critics of not supporting our troops!
Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld got it right the first time. You don't need to think about the possible "bad" outcomes - just make sure you put people in the room that agree with you on everything and there will be no need to consider anything "bad" happening, because nobody will bring it up.

I for one am glad our President is taking his sweet time on deciding how to handle the war.
He should weigh the pros and cons prior to making a decision. I don't want him making a snap decision like he did with the stimulus package or like they are proposing with health care. We all know how that turned out.
