Clinton

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is waving off rumors that she is considering a run for governor of New York. And former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani says he hasn't decided whether he'll run.

Clinton tells ABC's "This Week" that she wants to put to rest speculation that she would seek the governorship of New York. She says she is committed to her duties as secretary of state.

Giuliani says he'll decide soon whether to make a bid for governor. A Republican presidential candidate last year, Giuliani says he isn't leaning one way or another.

New York's Democratic governor, David Paterson, is seeking another term. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo hasn't said whether he'll challenge Paterson for the Democratic nomination.

I'm a conservative, and I guess that means (whoever makes up these rules) that I'm supposed to be against anything Hillary Clinton says. But I listened to her interview with Stephanopolous, and at least on what she said on Afghanistan I have to offer Conservative Kudos. She made it plain that American policy is about American security FIRST and Afghanistan "nation-building" second, if at all. If GWB had kept his "no nation building" campaign pledge to begin with, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now. There's nothing in the least "conservative" about either a "war for war's sake" OR a "let's remake the world in our image" policy. Granted, September 11th had the effect of rather throwing us into theaters of engagement we would not otherwise have entered, but all the same Bush COULD have, SHOULD have, maintained a focus that he lost. The President Bush who talked about spreading democracy (I thought it was about dealing with Al Qaeda??) did not sound at all like the "no nation building" Candidate Bush. In which, by the way, there's a cautionary lesson for President Obama. When you no longer resemble in the least the person the public thought it was voting for, you're in trouble.

Now this is just stupid. Why would Hillary run for Gov. She already has a job. She would be pulling a Sara Palin, I can assure you.

This is one classy lady. She's great as Secretary of State. I'm glad she was generous enough to take on the job, working for her former opponent. We are all better for it.

Indeed we are blessed she agreed to take the job.

Indeed, otherwise she would be undermining the president every day, as you do.

Hillary Clinton would be President today, if it wasn't for that SOB Kennedy sticking a knife into her with his 3:00 a.m. comment retort with a face of absolute glee for drawing blood, all the while supporting Obama for the office just to get publicity for himself and getting back at the Clintons. Ted Kennedy was a truly political rat in every sense of the word.

Don't believe a word out of this woman's mouth. she's running for president in 2016. POV you are wrong, Kennedy was not the reason Hillary's not the president; it's her husband's big mouth, and her insinuation that Obama is a muslim on MTP with Russert. When Bill open his big mouth and made those remarks comparing Obama to Jesse Jackson, I was done with the Clintons, African Americans stuck by them during the impeachment, stuck by his side for the entire eight years; I understand that he wanted Hillary to win, but he went too far.

not really relevant, but I've got to say that she looks so well put together these days! her stylist in the 90's was horrible! her hair and wardrobe are so flattering now!

Why is this woman always photographed with her mouth wide open?

Blame the jerk photographers and the jerk editors who still seem to hate Hillary's guts.

I think Bill ought to run for Governor. He's already got a proven resume, and I'm almost sure he can make Albany his b****.

Pity us in New York, Hillary has bluntly stated she is not running for Governor, which of course unleashes her "draft Hillary" fans into action and makes it all the more plausible that she will run.

Well, this is one liberal who would rather vote for Hannity than our disaster of a Senator and embarrassment of a SOS Hillary.

Thankfully you are seriously outnumbered in your own state. HRC won re-election to the senate in 2006 with over 70% of the vote. She was beloved as a Senator and is beloved in her current role across the globe.

Also, I seriously doubt you are a true liberal with that attitude about one of the best in the Democratic party. The party is d.amn lucky to have her although it is questionable whether or not they truly deserve her unyielding support.

Still hoping for Hillary 2012. Still a liberal Canadian who's happy and relieved to see Bush and the GOP out of power. Still not thrilled with America's Pepsi Cola president.

My main problem h Hillary is how gung-ho she was to go into Iraq.
She didn't want to be seen as "soft on terror" because she knew she was going to run for POTUS.

I knew what they were selling was BS. Why didn't she see it?

well since this has turned into a game of "let's guess Hillary's future".....Here's mine. The way I see it - NO to Gov of NY. I think it's a step backwards from SoS. Right now she enjoys high approval ratings on a worldwide stage and can stay above the fray and out of domestic politics. She's making a big difference in US global policy and is helping the world view of the U.S. improve immensely. But I think all the travel is taxing - looking at history, rarely do SoS' last 2 full terms. So my guess is she will either stay on as SoS through Obama's re-election and then resign at some point there after to get ready for the 2016 race. Somewhere after her resignation, she'll write a book. OR ....(another scenerio) - IF - Palin wins the Rep nomination - Obama will feel pressure for women voters. Particularly independent women voters who might find Palin appealing by 2012. In order to get the BASE of the democratic party out to vote and keep as many women voters as possible, I could see him putting Hillary on as VP. Not sure she actually WANTS this - but it would set her up for 2016.

Nikkit, I think your scenario is fairly rational as prognostications go. But I will not vote for anybody for President who would be over 60 years old in their first term (I am 64) and she would be well over 60 if she succeed to the Presidency after the untimely demise of President Obama after 2012. I do think HRC is a very good SoS. The Presidency ages people. It takes a big toll on them. The President should bring the vigor and energy of early middle age to the office, not the health of a social security eligible individual, which is always more subject to a rapid downturn. You may think this is ageism. I think it is realism.

It is ageism and sad. You may be in rough shape at 64, but many stay vibrant and very sharp well into their 70s and often beyond. Wisdom comes with age and I want someone who is not a novice as President. Secretary of State Clinton has been wise beyond her years for decades. She is and will always be brilliant and will make a fantastic president if we Dems are intelligent enough to ensure she gets nominated.

The only more hilarious than her? YOU!

Laughable that this late stage in the game that there are some who still are on the hate Hillary rant...tired, boring, stupid silliness...

Worry about the true liars that permeate the GOP...Sarah certainly is a stand out right now.

Hillary would win the NY governors race without leaving the house. She has a LOT of friends here.

She doesn't want to live in upstate NY (freezing and boring). She WANTS to be Sec of State. Any NY governor would take her job in a (NY) minute over theirs.

Another irrelevent thread.
