Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt Design Snake-Themed Jewelry Line (PHOTOS)

Brangelina has entered the bling-bling biz with a new jewelry line for Asprey. The pieces, inspired by snakes, are made from gold and silver, and include pendants, rings, bracelets and a baby spoon. The items will be for sale later this week, with prices starting at $525, and all proceeds will go to Jolie's Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.

According to WWD, Jolie considers the snake a talisman and protector of her family. The couple declined to discuss the collection, but instead e-mailed a statement about the Education Partnership charity, saying: "These are the children who most need a safe place to learn, a place to heal, a place to learn reconciliation, a place to build a better future and a place--to just be children."

I can't believe HP actually put Jolie's gaudy attempts at "jewelry" in the Style section. It did get some good laughs in the Entertainment section. People should just donate their money to charity instead of buying this crapola.

DIAMONDS? I wonder where they are mined and processed. Diamond trade is STILL one of the most cruel and corrupt industries the world has ever seen. Children are still mining them in Africa, hands are still being chopped off, misery and blood is all over MOST diamonds. Canada is an exception, maybe the only clear exception besides manmade.Th­e regulation of these rocks is known to be a dismal failure (the Kimberley Process). The world will be a better place when we associate diamonds with suffering and human rights abuse, rather than glamour, and of all things, "protection".

The designs are nice and it's for a worthy cause, so they're a good choice for those who, unlike me, can afford bling.

Snakes are incredible creatures and some species are quite beautiful, but I'm not sure that I'd want one on a baby spoon.

Please don't badmouth snakes. Snakes are venerated in a whole lot of other cultures and are an ancient symbol of many good things other than the stupid fake Adam and Eve myth in the christian bible.
