I am devastated. Feels like crushing pressure on my chest. I know the person at the hotel wishes they had acted to stop this man from hurting the child. i know i wish i was there to exact some punishment on him...

MiaMia, you hit the nail on the head. Here in California, motel owners get notices from city/state/county when there are complaints of illegal activity - some have been shut down.
I remember there was an investigation here about convicted felons/child molestors/sex-offenders were living in motels/hotels because no one would rent them an apartment. This was on the news. Haven't heard anything about this lately.

As far as the biological mother, to me, she seemed too calm. Are you kidding me, she politely answered questions, then says "I looked out..." Had that been me, the entire trailer park would have known MY child was missing - I would have screamed my daughters name, banging on doors demanding to know the whereabouts of my daughter. And sorry to say, I know of no mother that puts a 5-year-old child to sleep at 5:30 in the evening.

I don't know the policies of the big hotel/motel chains in NC, but here in California, you must use a credit card for incidentals.

I have been torn-up about this. My heart aches for this precious baby even though I didn't know her. This demands tougher laws in this country. Who could commit such a thing? Is this where most of the convicted sex-offenders go? Is this where most of the pedophiles go? I've noticed there's not much publicity of Americans going overseas getting arrested now that some of those countries have more strict laws!**Remember there was a story on a show like Dateline or 60 Minutes about "sex tourism," professional men like doctors were going to Thailand...for 3, 4 & 5 year olds.

And last, but not least, where is the mega-churches? These churches are silent, yet, very vocal on issues of "gay mariage & abortion."

There isn't a punishment we can humanly think of befitting this crime. As for Shaniya's father, I see some people have been looking towards him too. Blaming him isn't what's needed. As for now, or until he has been exposed as being in on this terrible act we have to remember that as far as we know, He and his sister raised Shaniya to the best of their abilities. And now he as a parent has to do what no parent should ever have to do, and that's bury their child. I fault no one for their anger at this point because I too am angry. What angers me even still is that we have lost another treasure that was born into this world and it wasn't filled with the type of love and protection that should be guaranteed to every child. I know this is far from a perfect world, but a person like Shaniya's mother should never have been able to have one child let alone now carry another. I just pray that isn't true about her being pregnant.

What kind of woman sells her little girl for sex and what kind of man buys her? Everyone involved in this shld get the juice. We have too many children being victimized for sex in this country.

By "The Juice" I hope you mean the electric chair?

This was a tragedy waiting to happen. According to the newspaper, Mr. Mcneill was able to end his supervised probation six months early - http://www.fayobserver.com/articles/2009/11/18/953074

For people like this, there's only one solution. Look let's not waste tax dollars on housing and feeding this animal, and yes she is a f@#$ animal. Spend 59 cents at the local sporting good store to take this garbage out. Antoinette Davis is a piss poor excuse of a human being, you dicuss me b!@#$.

My heart goes out to the poor little angel, her life was taken too soon, may God take her into His hands and give her eternal life.

I'm from NC, and YES we have the death penalty is our state, lethal injection. Considering what this little girl probably went thru before she died, the "needle" is too light of a sentence,

Yes, something smells! Leaving the child with the mother first for a long time, and this happened? Makes you wonder about the father involvement in this.

I disagree. I hope you're wrong and that someone (her father) actually showed this girl love in her too short life.

I was so hoping they would find this child alive and well somewhere.

I don't know if NC has a death penalty but I can't think of a more appropriate
sentence for anyone who would put any child in harms way, let alone your own child.

Discusting.

This has now been changed to murder in the 1st degree since the little girl's body was found dead today, Monday, November 16, 2009.

She should be in jail for life & banned from having children naturally or adopted.

Did I hear correctly? I hear the mother is pregnant again. Good Lord, help us all. Tears are still streaming down my face thinking of what that poor child went through in that hotel room.
