Palin Accuses AP Of Doing "Opposition Research" In Fact Check of Book

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:40 PM ET

Sarah Palin

Former Alaska Governor lashed out at the Associated Press Sunday for doing a fact-check on her memoir, "Going Rogue."

"Amazingly, but not surprisingly, the AP somehow nabbed a copy of the book before it was released," she wrote on her Facebook page. "They're now erroneously reporting on the book's contents and are repeating many of the same things they spewed during the campaign and afterwards. We've heard 11 writers are engaged in this opposition research, er, "fact checking" research!"

The AP reported that Palin's account often contradicted her record as well as current events. Her depiction of the McCain campaign is also frequently at odds with internal campaign emails.

If Obama has his "bowgate" the lies of SP in her book have to qualify as "bow-wowgate."

She (and they) just keep making it up, wadding it up, and rolling it our way.

At least dung beetles don’t make it up.

Does opposition research have anything to do with opposition marriage? Or why do these beautiful women have to be so dumb?

In a way she's correct, but only because she's such a congenital liar, so much of what she says is in "opposition" to reality, that just learning the facts is "opposition research" relative to her. Even with a telescope, you can't see the truth from the Palin house.

The facts have been stated all over the place atleast a million times by now.. no need to state them again. It's implied at this point.

Ummm... if you want a plethora of facts to back this comment up (and most of the other comments to which you've appended your mooncalf-ish response) you could try clicking on the link in the main article (above, or just go here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/13/palins-book-goes-rogue-on_n_357682.html).

Or, hang on, are those facts that you object to?

It's ironic that Palin chose "Runners World" magazine, to make a fool of herself.

Because if BS ran, she'd be a "marathon", man !

Has AP fact checked that they had 11 writers working on her book yet?

Or will that take a twelfth?

I've known a few people who compulsively lie about everything. They just can't help it, it seems to be some deep seeded need to alter the reality around them. To fix things so that they are always in the best possible light. All mistakes or problems are caused by other people. Everyone simply wants to make them "look" bad when they aren't, and other such justifying reasoning.

These people actually believe every single lie they tell and would swear on the bible every word they spoke is all the gospel truth. Perhaps she is also one of these people, for surely she feels the need to embellish and interchanges facts with fiction at an amazing rate.

For those complaining about the supposed lack of fact checking on Obama and Gore, it would seem that Obama and Gore are smart enough not to write a whole book where statements can be easily be disproved. They understand the written word. On that note, the written word was not what I thought Sarah Palin would pick to convey her agenda. Sure, the ghost writer could make sure that it was grammatically correct and spell checked but she should have also fact checked, especially when Palin threw the McCain campaign under the (campaign?) bus. No way of back-pedaling and saying you misspoke or were taken out of context or whatever the latest refutation of being called out after a speech is.

I do agree with the poster who said that she does believe her version of events at the time she's talking or writing about it in that whatever version puts herself in a positive light overrides reality. It's her reality, just different and wrong, real to her, just not real to any thinking person.

This is to me it's also the ultimate in arrogance, her thinking that they wouldn't offer up evidence to the contrary and allow her to present her flawed version of reality. She's not the running mate anymore.

If Palin would stop telling L I E S then she would not concerned about fact checking.

My parents used to say that if a person L I E S about small stuff then there is no way you can trust them on issues that matter.

Poor Sarah can't handle politics. Operational research is commonly used by all candidates for office to research their opponent's public statements on issues. You know what they say, if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen.
