Apple Patents "Non-Skippable" Ads That iPods, iPhones Could Carry

A patent application filed in the United States suggests that the leading technology firm is considering introducing commercials in order to sell its products at a discounted price.

Described in the application as "enforcement routine" software, it is believed the technology would force users to watch or listen to small adverts which they would be unable to skip past.

"The technology could also require users to answer questions about the adverts in order to ensure they have listened to and fully understood them.

People listening to iPods could be asked to respond to certain button combinations which, once correctly input, would allow them to continue listening to their music."

it's hard enough to have to play the ad, but they want people to have to pay attention to it?

Maybe they could make upgrades dependent on this: you can upgrade to true multitasking and flash if you just answer ten simple questions.

an unavoidable ad playing during streaming video or audio, is fine. But while you're listening to your own offline music on your own machine? That's too much.

these already exist. Ever used a shareware with a ""nag" popup window? same thing. The US patent system is slowly strangling business with ju.nk patents.
