When jetting down the highway advertisers only have seconds to catch your eye and keep your interest. We're pretty sure these billboards did just that. Also, they made us laugh.

These are all pretty cool but I'm kinda tired of seeing the Coops Paint one, even if it's really clever.

I remember one for the Isuzu Piazza that put the car (or at least the body shell/tires) sideways and painted the board like a road and had lights flashing simulatiing passiing cars, looked pretty cool.
BUT ya notice Isuzu doesn't import cars into this country anymore, hope that doesn't portend anything similar for these.

They're all so gosh darn cute, I'm having trouble deciding which is the most offensive.

I love all these billboards so hilarious. These people are really creative.

Here's a billboard for Fage yogurt just for the Macy's parade:

I think they are all great in their own ways! I challenge any of you who have commented negatively to come up with something better! So easy to criticize isnt it... loosen up!

I'll take that challenge.

Try unspoiled scenery; grand vistas without crass commercial interruption.

Touche and 100% in agreement. Edward Abbey forever!

I also agree -
but the billboards shown here are mainly in cities, and most are on the sides of buildings. I don't mind a creative bit of humor adorning a colorless wall.

The most creative? Vermont, Hawaii and Alaska. They ban these blights of uselessness.

It's frustrating how conditioned people are to seeing them and accepting of them. Do you really like billboards? Why? If the option is to look at a billboard and look at nothing, which is preferable?

I know what option I'd choose.

In the 70s there were so many bill boards and people hated them so states pass laws to get rid of them. Because of the lobbyist the media companies were paid to take them down. Then when eople quit caring in the 80s the lobbyist got the laws change. I think 60 minutes did a story on this a long time ago. I think I would rather not see them. Respect to Vermont, Hawaii and Alaska legislators for not caving in.

I didn't think any of them were all that creative. Most of them were just plain stupid.

need friends?
08:53 AM on 11/22/2009
If you do need friends Maggie, you have one. Totally agree with you. Maggie states her opinion and this shows she needs friends? What do I need? "To get laid". Wow you are good Bruno.
01:49 PM on 11/20/2009
Well Maggie, do tell, please, because I'm DYYYYING to know, what *do* you find creative?

I see billboards look like excessive tattoos. I love the view of architecture design. Something useful and with purpose. Building as an art to meet a need not just to sell us more junk that we don't really need.

None of these are that creative--all of them have one basic idea: make the art break through the confines of the board in some way. Once you do that, these are all pretty obvious and static.

The only two that are truly _clever_ are the McDonald's sundial--that one is REALLY smart--and the lightbulb on the Economist billboard that goes on when someone walks underneath it.

Of course, both of those are _too_ clever, so were not voted highly. Hey a roll of toilet paper, now that's clever!

I think that I shall never see a bill board lovely as a tree
And yet unless the bill boards fall
I think I shall not see a tree at all

(my favorite)

Myself I rather like the bat
Its not a mouse Itsnot a rat
It has no feathers yet has wings
But quite inaudible when it sings
It zig-zags through the evening air
But never lands in lady's hair
A fact of which men spend their lives
Attempting to convince their wives

Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a teatray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!

The one "l" lama - he's a priest
The 2 "l" llama - he's a beast
and I will bet a silk pajama
there isn't any 3 "l" lllama

(Ogden Nash himself humorously discounts the claim of a fireman who contacted him to inform him a about a "3 alarmer".

These were ALL produced using Photoshop. It's pretty easy to tell, really.

Maybe it's hard if you've never used the program, but if you have (and yes, I use it professionally) it's quite easy to tell.

Well I saw the TV2 one in Auckland ages ago, so unless I have photoshop in my eyes... Its by Saatchi and Saatchi, those guys rock when it comes to ads.
