nytimes.com:

White House officials are looking at creating a new version of cash for clunkers -- this time for home weatherization. McKinsey, the consulting firm [authors of the report], estimate that households could reduce their energy use by 28 percent over the next decade. In terms of greenhouse gases, that would be the equivalent of taking half of all vehicles in this country off the road.

Letsmake a stimulus for everything. Dont lift a finger until the govt offers you money first. Dont paint your house. Dont vacuum the carpet. Dont clean the toilet. Dont eat. Dont buy a car. Then when the govt does offer you money for any of these things, loudly complain "HOW DO THEY EXPECT ME TO LIVE ON WHUT THEYRE GIVIN ME!"

Our old house is like a sieve so my wife and I only heat rooms one at a time. Not a big deal actually since it is just the two of us (and the dog....who is always in the same room anyway).

We were thinking of doing some weatherizing...now we'll wait and see if the government will help.

2. Warming occurs and we do NOTHINGggg gg........ ..

"All these efforts would lead to more weatherization. But I would be surprised if they were enough to create a program as successful as cash for clunkers. "

If the author is using the cash for clunkers as a successful target, this thing is doomed for failure.

On top of the resounding success of the cash for clunkers program
The cash for caulkers program is sure to be a hit.
