There is a serious double standard when you could accuse this man for murder because he allegedly induced his girlfriend's miscarriage, and at the same time establish that it is a fundamental right for the woman if she had done the exact same thing to herself, according to Roe and Casey. It's absurd.

Pro-lifers have managed to get the wording of some state laws amended to "have it both ways". If it's a double standard, they created it.

That may be the case, and I personally am pro-choice, but there is a real equal protection issue here if he is charged with murder. As far as the story goes, Woodward was arrested on suspicion of murder, not assault, although he hasn't been charged. But I agree, if he is indicted, he'll probably be charged with assault in the second degree, not because of the induced miscarriage per se, but because he caused physical injury to the woman.

Why is he being charged with murder if she was 13 weeks pregnant, shouldn't it be Assault Causing Bodily Harm (don't know what the US equivalent is).

I'm not sure how that works there. He could not be charged with murder in Canada because a fetus is not a person.

I think she decided to keep the baby and he didn't want it so he basically killed her baby. I believe Scott Peterson was charged with double murder because he killed his pregnant wife.
