Afghanistan Us Troops

washingtonindependent.com:

If President Obama orders an additional 30,000 to 40,000 troops to Afghanistan, he will be deploying practically every available U.S. Army brigade to war, leaving few units in reserve in case of an unforeseen emergency and further stressing a force that has seen repeated combat deployments since 2002.

The ever escalating operations tempo should come as no surprise to those that actually read and follow the news of the nation. The reserve component is being quietly and methodically taxed to extremes we did not see under the past administration. Virtually not a week goes by where the news from one state or another references he news of an announced mobilization and deployment with the term "largest since WWII." I currently serve in the reserve component and with the exception of the few who actually view the chance to go to war as some sort of thrill or personal jihad, the majority silently question why we are going down the path we are. For many the reason to continue on revolves around economic necessity as a tax free deployment goes a long way to pay the bills and keep a family afloat for another year or two. The sad reality is that when all is said and done the human damage and associated costs will linger for decades.

People (the usual suspects that have never served) accuse the POTUS of dithering, but if he acts in haste the end result will be that the troops will be forced into an even higher pace of redeployments. Given the issues our troops are already experiencing how much more can they take?
