Jlo Dog Attack

nydailynews.com:

Superstars Jennifer Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony are to blame for their military-trained guard dog's attack on a stewardess - and should have sent the German Shepherd to counseling, an animal behavior expert says.

Dr. Karen Overall, a veterinarian with a Ph.D in zoology, found the dog was a menace and that that couple knew it from past bad behavior.

Some people seem to think that owning a big bad dog makes them a big bad person.

I have no use for such animals or their owners.

if dog owners have to give people instructions for their dogs like "don't look him in the eye" the way skeletor did to the flight attendant, that pretty much signifies a big personality problem with the dog and the dog should have been muzzled.

Anyone who watches Cesar Millan comes to know that if people own a menacing dog, it's because there is some emotional pay-off in it for them. She should sue.

It is ancient British law that "every dog gets one bite". That means before the first bite the owner might not know.

She needs a wake up call. The dog could have injured a child. Owners need to be responsible for their 'pets'.

The dog did not even bite the woman, give it a break.

He growled, and lunged, but did not bite. I would be scared too, but to claim she was injured,? This is just another greed inspired lawsuit.

You must work for the Skeletors. He attcked her, she fell and injured herself. The dog has a history.

When my dog rode in the cabin with me, he had to be placed in a container under the seat. How does one get a German Shepherd in such a container?

Anyone who's ever been growled at, attacked/charged by a good size dog, let alone bitten knows aside from the physical injury, the fear one feels is primordial. Dogs rip when attacking and cause large serious scarring which require reconstructive surgery and can devvvestate victims and their families financially and emotionally. The attacks usually cause that primordial fear to return in a flash, triggered by seeing or hearing another dog. It can pretty much ruin dogs for the victim. As a dog lover, that 'ruining' is also part of the injury. Don't be so quick to judge this as no big deal. In a confined space, and the breed involved, I'm sure anybody in the flight attendant's place would be suing the irresponsible pet owner. I know I would.

has anyone considered that most airlines have you put your dog in a kennel? it is the airlines fault for not following the correct procedures. dogs have very sensitive hearing (about 10 times that of a human). the dog's ears must have been hurting from the pressure in the cabin; people have a hard time flying.

jennifer lopez anthony is beautiful, intelligent, multi-talented (actress/singer/designer/businesswoman); i think there are a lot of jealous people out there. this woman is constantly harassed in some way or the other.

boston didn't like ben affleck being engaged to a latina. that is why she doesn't like boston. ben's mother didn't like the idea of a latina daughter-in-law. gwyneth paltrow didn't like her ex ben dating a gorgeous latina. (it wasn't any of her business but she publicly put down jennifer lopez). so, ben goes and finds an anglo-saxon "jennifer" to marry.

jealousy follows jennifer lopez around every day (no wonder she has a 'guard' dog).

Oh Please, what does her being Latina have to do with anything???

Pleazzzze, get a life, "jealousy follows her around everywhere", what a steaming crock.

I love it. Most dogs with a history of dangerous behavior would be euthanized after one too many bites. But the Rich get to pay people to be bitten.
12:47 PM on 11/20/2009
I do not see how grwoling is considered dangerous behavior.
Most guard dogs will react if they feel their people are in danger and some will react even if a voice is raised.
Unless a private plane the dog should have been secluded.
I hope the dog is not put to sleep over this.

Depending on where the growling occurred, how big the dog is, the potential for harm and history of reported aggression determines the history on domesticated pets. The owner is usually the problem. I too hope nothing negative happens to the dog. My point was the discrepancy between what some people are allowed to get away with and what others must endure.
05:30 PM on 11/20/2009
Hey people, dont you know they don't fly commercial. A commerical airline would not have a big dog in the cabin. DUH!
09:59 AM on 11/20/2009
I'd love to get bitten by their dog and get PAID.

Since when does this pair get the right to take a German Shepard "guard dog" with them on the airplane?

Oh, my bad. What a fool I've been ... what was I thinking?
11:50 AM on 11/20/2009
But, if they were on their own private plane, why did they think they needed to protect themselves with a guard dog?

It's the *dog* that needs counseling? No, the dog needs obedience school. It's the owners who need counseling for keeping a dog that has a history of dangerous behavior.

Exactly!
