Oprah Announcement

Below, watch video of Oprah tearing up as she announces that her show will end in 2011 after 25 years on the air.

Her full statement:

"So here we are, halfway through the season 24. And it still means as much to me to spend an hour everyday with you as it did in 1986. So why walk away and make next season the last? Here is the real reason. I love this show. This show has been my life. And I love it enough to know when it's time to say goodbye. 25 years feels right in my bones and it feels right in my spirit. It's the perfect number, the exact right time."

Attached you will find a link to an original song and video called OPRAH: Let Love Lead The Way. . . (DRAFT - Awaiting for Permissions) that I would like gave to Oprah. After she views the video and listens to the lyrics I’m quite sure that she would be pleased. Out of respect and professional consideration I have only shared this piece with a few personal friends. And frankly their responses and feedback on it have been sincerely positive.
Private link to Video:

Once you go to the link you will find a letter addressed to Oprah that is located on the left side of the screen (where the owner details are located). I have worked on this musical/video piece for many months after hearing about her desire to conclude her show and I surely hope that it is “Actually delivered to and shared with Oprah (herself).”

I appreciate your valuable time and trust that this musical piece will actually be shared with Oprah.

Sincerely

David Bailey

Isn't she starting another show on her own network? I didn't think she was retiring, just leaving this particular show......talk about a long goodbye.

Oprah is a legend in her own mind, but in mine, she's just a windbag.
10:55 PM on 11/20/2009
every day I try to find something for which to be grateful.....today, it's that I don't live in your mind.....what a sad place that must be.
08:07 AM on 11/21/2009
Actually, my mind is quite happy and you know why. I was taught to think and to chose and not pay attention to people like you and Oprah and Keith Olbermann and Bill O'Rielly...shall I keep going?!

She's a legend in my mind. Only if she were gearing up to run for President, or even the Senate in 2012!!! Love ya, Oprah!

...when i was young, i had a bad boyfriend(being polite because I am ashamed to even admit i was there) and I was watching Oprah one day and Oprah brought up a good point along the lines that " Love is not meant to hurt..it is meant to feel good..not saying there wont be challenges" A great eye opener for a 19 year old.....changed how i viewed relationships forever. Thank God for that episode.

A little fact checking here: I know she will get 25 years in but September, 1986 to November, 2009 is Twenty three years and two month.
06:30 PM on 11/20/2009
I am happy for the lady. I respect what she has done with her life even though she backed the worse President in our lifetime.....but hey, everybody makes mistakes.
06:45 PM on 11/20/2009
Oh, I think you are mistaken, Oprah didn't back George W. Bush for election.

25 Years! The perfect number. Bless you Oprah...

Haven't watched today's show yet, but will be at 4 p.m. This is my (half hearted) prediction. Upon finishing her run as Queen of the talk show hosts, Oprah will run for mayor of Chicago. This will give her enough political clout, to run as the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016 against the Republican nominee Sarah Palin. Then again Palin may have found a new calling by then, as the new Queen of daytime talk shows on the Fox network. If she has the slightest chance of making the kind of money Oprah does, you can bet she will never run for public office again. As long as money and celebrity are involved, Palin will be happy.

I have never been a "true" Oprah Winfrey fan. I think she's a nice lady and has done much good but all things must come to an end. Enough of the drama because she's decided to pursue other things.

Michael is gone forever. Now Oprah is retiring. 2009 and this entire decade just sucks. The economy, the deaths, the wars, the politics and politicians, gas prices, music, fashion, TV, movies. Bring on 2012, is there anything to look forward to anymore?

I love her and this doesn't mean that things are ending just because the daily show won't be airing. But I felt this. During this time last year, her show was on hiatus way before Christmas and a lot during this past spring and summer. You can feel the change even without her saying so.

There's bigger and better things to come and Oprah can do it. I hope and pray that I'm around in the next 2 years to see what's on her agenda.

You have to give TONS of credit to Oprah. She's an industry unto herself (maybe SEVERAL industries).

Showwoman, salesperson, large shoulder to cry on, interrogator... she's all of these and more.

What I respect most is her set of ideals, her perseverence, her dedication to telling "it" the way she sees it.

I learned a long time ago: don't regret what you have no more: be grateful for what you have had.

And hey, she will still be here for another 1.5 seasons.

Three Cheers for Oprah.
