Planes, Trains And Automobiles

This holiday classic pairs the hilarious Steve Martin with the inimitable John Candy to teach us an important lesson: You should always make sure you are reaching for a towel and not a fat man's underwear before you put it on your body.

I can't believe you left out 'What's Cooking?" a great movie made in 2000 by independent filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, before her more famous 'Bend it like Beckham' classic came out. See how four different families in Los Angeles prepare for Thanksgiving - Mexican American, Vietnamese American, Jewish American, and African American and white (including Dennis Haysbert before he became famous as President Palmer on '24'). it's funny, poignant and a great family movie.

Plan 9 From Outer Space -- technically not a Thanksgiving movie, but it did win the "Golden Turkey" award, so maybe it counts.

You folks really need a 'none of the above' button. How much did the distributors pay you to nominate these? Half of 'em are turkeys!

Anything by the Marx Brothers at our house. Hail Freedonia!

Candace8383 is right.

Laurel & Hardy in "March of the Wooden Soldiers - Babes in Toyland" is still hands-down the best. It's dated, but that helps to be even funnier.

Maybe not the greatest Thanksgiving movie of all time, but perhaps one of the great movies: The Big Chill. Not even mentioned, by the authors or anyone else (besides me).

While not a holiday movie, but a great movie nonetheless, For Your Consideration was about the making of movie about Purim, that was later changed to Thanksgiving (if i am remembering correctly).

I don't know if Alice's Restaurant was a great Thanksgiving Day movie, but but it took the best T-Day song ever and turned it into an incredible metaphor of America in the 60's. It highlighted some of the ironies of the decade, the country, and the Holiday itself.

I love "Diary of a Mad Housewife" with Frank Langella , Carrie Snodgrass and Richard Benjamin. It's a great 1970 movie and Thanksgiving is a big part of it !!!

I loved "The Ice Storm" (what a soundtrack) and "Hannah and her Sisters" in the "modern" category, and "Miracle on 34th Street" as a classic. I'm not really keen on child actors, but little Natalie Wood was different. And the scene where the sacks and sacks of letters are brought into the courtroom....

'Miracle On 34th Street' is a classic Christmas movie. It was the movie that inspired me to become an actress in movies. I've watched it every year I can remember.
