I hope the guy "disappears" to quickly finish his book and have it published. I'm sure there are some real bad characters that don't like what he's doing. We're talking about serious crime here. The FBI should receive the first copy.

Not only that, he's saying the comissioner's office was compliant with refs point shaving and game fixing to arrange better selling match ups in the playoffs. I find it hard to believe, but if it's true, it'll mean the end of the NBA.

Ever since Stern let an Oklahoma hayseed steal the Sonics from Seattle, I haven't given the NBA the time of day. It is a broken league with a broken salary structure and it's boring. The NBA wants certain teams in the finals for ratings and I guarantee that Hayseed that Oklahoma City isn't one of them.

If only for allowing the NETS to exist as an NBA product.

I guess the grueling schedule leaves the officials on the brink of exhaustion. No wonder their judgment is clouded. Maybe they need to take steroids to keep up with the pace of the game.

Wow, this is spreading like a disease. In Europe they just busted many players and refs who gambled on Soccer games, now Basketball, well, no doubt Football will be next and there goes the illusion of sportsmanship and all that.
Parents, don't condition your kids to become athletes. Teach them to be honest, and love the game for the game. All this greed is just becoming such a cancer in this society.

I hope this does not end up like steroids in baseball, where one name is revealed every month. Name the refs, discipline them, and lets move on.

The only sports I bet on are college football and basketball. The NFL and NBA are FIXED and have been for decades. This does not surprise me at all. David Stern should have retired once this news broke, him and Bud Selig are the two worst examples of commissioners in professional sports.

Duh? And that makes you one of nature's noble men?

I fail to grasp the value of/pleasure in betting.
01:47 PM on 11/25/2009
He didn't claim that his betting ennobled him. Are you implying that unless an activity is a "noble" one, it shouldn't be undertaken?

You take no pleasure in betting, and that's fine. It's your choice.

However, many humans are attracted to gambling, as they have partaken in it for centuries. Roman soldiers cast lots for the garments of Jesus after his crucifixion.

Clearly, gambling is a source of enjoyment and entertainment for millions of people. As long as no one is hurt in the process, that seems to be ample justification for it, without applying an arbitrary and illogical standard of nobility.

Are all of your behaviors and activities "noble?" If not, why are you engaged in them?
01:50 PM on 11/25/2009
Nature's noble men? Yeah Paco, I have a wooden staff and a loin cloth on to prove it! Some folks out there don't believe that the NBA or NFL are fixed. I have watched buddies of mine lose thousands on pro sports!

If one is good at betting games then why not try as many parlays as possible? I have made $35,000 the last two years on college sports. My pleasure can be seen in the trips I take all over the country using that money.

Of Course. You cannot really believe that sports is real. There is way too much money involved. ?Ever wonder why a good player can have such bad days? It's fixed......
