"WASHINGTON—In keeping with a longstanding Thanksgiving tradition, Vice President Joe Biden ceremonially pardoned a 4-pound yam today at a ceremony in the White House Rose Garden. "Under my authority as vice president of the United States of America, I hereby grant this yam full and unconditional clemency," ... ."

"ceremonially pardoned a 4-pound yam today at a ceremony" Huh???

That should about cover the degree of ceremony-ness, huh???

I think Biden is turning it around. I think that the jokes are getting a little less frequent, but the VP always gets the short end. I think the input on Afg han ist an, though he did not get the scaleback, showed us he is still a player in the cabinet capable of giving strong input into the decision making process.

In the end Obama makes the decisions, Biden's only request was to be included in these discussions. I think it is one of the promises Obama has kept. Hope he'll keep more, but he has not had a great 10 months, but I will reserve judgement for now, but it has been tough on us progessives. I never truly felt he was a pure progressive, but I expected him to use more political capital and stronger lines in the sand with Congress.

I do not want him to be another Carter who had his true problems with his own party in Congress way before the other items the plagued him in the last 1 1/2 years. Wow, that completely went off the rails. Happy Thanksgiving!

>sigh<

The vegetable shown in the photograph is NOT a yam; it is a sweet potato, originally from South America. The actual yam is much larger and derives from Asia and Africa. Probably few in the US have actually eaten yams.

I have to beg pardon AFTER I have eaten the yam.

Footage of this is really going to confuse the future alien archeologists that will sift through our rubble for clues about this planet's former denizens.

Sweetheart "The Onion" is faux comedic news.

But I do believe VP Biden would consider a joke like that.....
