Alot of pie, but not much in the way of vegetables. What about contributions from the White House garden? Acorn squash? Brussel sprouts? Carrots? Creamed onions? My son got us to try to eat 40 different fruits and vegetables every week since summer. It has been a real boon for delicious and healthy eating, and for trying new and different things.

That was on your table, as is everynight.

Pie and appetizers are the best part of the meal in my opinion.

ss193, if Obama visits the troops in Afghanistan/Iraq he'll have to eat a lot of humble pie because the service men and women over there realize how futile and immoral those wars truly are. Of course the media will present their photo-op to the American people but that will be, as usual, a lie.

Since the President ate dinner at the White House for Thanksgiving, I hope I am correct in assuming he will spend Christmas with the troops in Iraq or Afghanistan. Historically, the commander in chief pays a visit to the troops on some of the holidays, if not all.

Cheney and Bush should have spent their entire terms in office there.
10:30 AM on 11/30/2009
How many holidays did Clinton spend with the troops over an 8 year period? What about Bush I? Bush II? Reagan? Carter? Nixon? Ford? Johnson? Kennedy? Eisenhower? FDR? Truman?

Your statement that the CIC historically visits the troops on holidays is a lie. It happened on occasion but in no way was it routine. Obama has already spent more time with the troops in a shorter period than the past two presidents combined. But haters like you add an extra dimension: he has to be there for Christmas.

Oh Spanky...I am tired of being called a liar and a hater. I can't help that you are under
educated and impolite. There are things you could do to expand and improve your thinking. Some things are a matter of opinion, and some things are matters of fact, you have to start reading and thinking to recognize the difference. I took the time to read some of your nasty and unprintable comments to others. If you can't at least learn civil discourse, you will be constantly flagged and ultimately scrubbed. Why do you not post in the Politics section, or Current News of the Day ? Do you even read in those areas ?
If not, try it, you might learn something.. of course you could keep it up under...let's see.
Spamazon, LoveGuv, Amistad, Ithastobe.....or invent a new one. Mrs Obama will be just fine until you think of a new screen name, I promise. I had an old screen name, but got a new email account. please feel free to check on me whenever you please. I have to get back to work now, some of us have a life.

Whoah, there's one pie that's conspicuous by its' absence, and more
traditionally linked to Thanksgiving than many pies on that list.

Mincemeat.....and I'm here to tell all of you who just wrinkled up your faces
and uttered, "Ewwwwww," THERE IS NO MEAT IN MINCEMEAT!

Sorry for yelling, but that needs to be done when faced with "pie-prejudice."

Of the nearly dozen folks who were scheduled to attend the dinner to which
I was invited, when asked about mincemeat pie as a dessert item, each one
exhibited their mock disgust at the mere mention. When asked if they had
ever tried it...none had, but all felt that any desert that contained meat must be
awful and avoided at all costs.

Cut to the chase...I brought a wonderful mince meat pie to the dinner, warmed it,
and served each attendee a sliver, topped with a dollop of a fine vanilla ice cream.
Each requested second helpings and some went for a third. There was none left.

So much for the principles of prejudice.

Sorry, I'm still prejudiced against mincemeat pie. I know it's not made with meat any longer, although the original mincemeat pie did contain meat, but it's the raisins I can't abide. I'm glad your dinner companions enjoyed yours though. Sounds like it was a great success.

I was with you until you said topped with vanilla ice cream. Mincemeat is not mincemeat until it's topped with hard sauce. There is no Thanksgiving without it.

It's great to see the leader of the USA eating the same kind of down home food at his house as we do at ours:)

"Regarding that dinner: Yum yum, Gimme sum!! And, a very attractive first family, too."

Yes, we had turkey as well, but since my family isn't as attractive, we hired two good looking actors to have dinner with us.

"B TW we are out of recession that bush and those wonderful republicans put us in."

We are out of a recession??? By the way my business was more successful when Bush was in office, now I'm in a slump.

Do I blame Barry O? No
Do I credit Bush? No
Libs love pointing fingers, I take responsibility for my life and business. More people should as well.

Well, if you're the business person you claim yourself to be, you would be more than aware of the fact that it was BUSH and a REPUBLICAN Congress; their ineptitude, lack of attention and out of control spending that got us into this mess...or maybe you were napping when all of that panic was going on the end of the campaign...your boy McC claiming the economy was strong; TARP! That was under Bush's watch. The economy, jobs, the stock market TANKED under his watch. 700,000 people lost their jobs his last month in office; jobs tanking the entire last year of his term. Ahhh, now you remember!
03:51 AM on 11/28/2009
President Obama has not helped our economy at all. The troops he has committed to Afghanistan alone will cost us $64billion a year.

Obama has also ignored unemployment, and it continues to spiral upward.

The HCR he promised he has actually worked to make it useless, and only profit makers for pharma and the insurance companies.

While it's true the Bush/Cheeneey administration nearly destroyed our country, Obama is proving to be as fiscally irresponsible as Bush was.

And the way he squanders money on lavish extravaganzas and celebrity-filled parties--it's shameful, with Americans suffering like they are.

Aint' that the truth. I have fond memories, as the sole female in a firehall, watching six firefighters try to deep fry a turkey. Wish I had filmed it.

One turkey pardoned and the other devoured. I always thought that all turkeys were equal, but it seems that some are more equal than others.
03:03 AM on 11/30/2009
What a nonsensical comment

Did you pardon YOUR Thanksgiving turkey or did you EAT it?
