Colbert Plays "Sanction, Bomb, Marry" With Head Of Ploughshares Fund (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:50 PM ET

In his "Better Know a Lobby" segment, Colbert took on Ploughshares Fund, an organization dedicated to preventing the use of nuclear and biological weapons.

Colbert, an unabashed fan of the Cold War, reveled in the chance to talk nuclear warfare -- especially when given the opportunity to recreate the devastation caused by an "awesome" nuclear explosion. He took it a step further, playing a game called "Sanction, Bomb, Marry" with Joseph Cirincione, the head of the anti-WMD lobby. Cirincione reluctantly admitted he'd bomb North Korea and of course, Colbert lapped up his destruction of Ploughshare's credibility.

I literally busted out laughing at his visual imitation of a nuclear bomb going off.

Coworkers wondering what's going on... Embarrassing.

Hilarious nuclear-explosion impression by Stephen. Kudos to the head of Ploughshares Fund, he played along for the fun of it.

what is funnier? his impression of the explosion, or his high-5'ing after "trashing the guy's credibility"?

Colbert IS the master. i don't know anyone funnier.

This was one of CR's funniest bits. The guy he was interviewing played right along with it too, and didn't get flustered or annoyed and Stephen's antics. He's hilarious.

That impression of a nuclear explosion is by far and away the very best impression I have ever seen in my entire life.

Second. Perhaps because I am of a certain age, (i.e. I practiced ducking under my desk during the missile crisis) have been seeing that same stock footage of nuclear explosions for as long as I can remember. I loved that recreation.

I still give the Emmy to Jon Stewart for the Glenn Beck riff, but Colbert's Bomb gives him some serious competition.
