Politico:

A federal judge in New Jersey on Tuesday rejected an attempt by the Republican National Committee to end nearly three-decade-old restrictions on GOP "ballot security" programs that historically discriminated against minority voters.

In a ruling that extended the restrictions for at least another eight years, but also slightly narrowed the consent decree containing them, U.S. District Court Judge Dickinson Debevoise of Newark asserted that "voter intimidation presents an ongoing threat to the participation of minority individuals in the political process."

If this WERE the United States Of America run by the MAJORITY of the people here and all was JUST.

The FACT that the RNC even thought about this for one nanosecond would be on the front page of every news source in this country.

BUT

We are in a new Civil War and they WANT this country to return to the " Good" ole days when White is right and everyone else can pound sand.

That is all.

This is good news. Voter intimidation happens in the South. And surprisingly, dead people also vote in the South. They almost threw out the election of a state senator in TN because so many dead people voted for her.

I wonder how Michael Steele feels about being used as the proverbial "some of my best friends are black". They even threw in the "Heck, we even voted for one".

My thoughts exactly. I wonder when he will stop supporting the party who continue to oppress his own people.

From this to why ACORN is such a hot-topic for the Right Wing. Its all about fear of minorities voting in large blocks and they vote more and more with each election cycle. Reminds me of a video I saw of voters in a podunk town in North Carolina of a bunch of white guys screaming down black people who were lined up waiting for their turn to vote for Barack Obama.

Rightwingers use ACORN as a scapegoat to justify their lousy showing in the last two elections and to distract themselves from problems they created for all of us by supporting the worst president ever. We all know the history so let's go through it again just to make sure you didn't miss anything.
Two unfinished wars
A shattered economy
A world that no longer sees America as a beacon of liberty
The largest deficit in US history
A parade of republican corruption from bribery to sex with anything that moves
A rightwing media with no regard for the truth or reality
A batch of angry, mostly ignorant white people withcollective historical amnesia and a propensity to believe thier own BS.
Corporations that run our government through a system of bipartisan bribery
A compromised evnironment that may or may not support future humanity.
And republicans see the largest threat to America as a scattered collection of nonprofits and community organizations, run, not by corporations, but by regular people who, despite their mistakes are trying to enfrachise our poorest citizens. Until republicans are willing to address their own culpability for our problems and acknowledge that they've done a lousy job of reaching out to minorities, they really have nothing to say to the rest of us but "sorry".

Allelujah ... Now if we can just stop the RNC and Republican governors' attempts to redistrict the entire South and all urban areas to eliminate the effect of heavily-minority voting districts, starting with VA and NJ of course, we'll all be much better off.

Now you have the chance to do some good in the world instead of trading cigarettes and booze for someone's vote. I hope you can become a nurse or work for a charity and become an honest citizen that will enrich your life and others along the way.

Poor bighat. Are you upset that your party is failing at every turn? Maybe you're upset that your party has turned into a 'say no to everything', shoe tapping in airport bathrooms, church backed adultery, and the proponent for big business.

Republicans hold these truths to be self-evident....that all elderly, rich, white, male, christians are created equal. The rest of you, no so much.

so minorities can only vote Dem in a elections according to the ruling, that is taking the privacy out of the voting booth that judge needs removed from the bench

Minorities already vote Dem in elections. The RNC is trying to relive the days when they could suppress the vote. With fewer minorities voting, they stand a chance of regaining power. Please get with the reality program. Thanks.

LOL
Not quite the repubs are trying to put back the intimidation law, allowing them to use 1981 thug tactics like the good ol days. Concentrated in minority districts of course.
Still love that cat ;)

Stay classy Republicans.

The RNC is so concern with voter registration fraud by ACORN but how many of those fraudulent registration actually do vote and have their ballot counter? None. Any one who has ever voted knows they have to supply identification and proof of residency. So spare me the your concerns. The RNC just doesn't want minorities to vote and with their uncle tom as the chairman they can take action against this.

Thank dog for these activist judges - seriously, they are our firewall against Repug hegemony!

Isn't it funny. It's not so much that these judges are
Democratic; it's that the laws are. Go figure!!

Why to go judge, thank you.....
I am sure the RNC wanted to resort to intimidation like back in the 40's and 50's. I am do glad this judge could see the forest regardless of the trees.
