Zebrie Sanders, Florida State Lineman, Stands Still After Ball Is Snapped (VIDEO)

First Posted: 3/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

The false start in football is certainly an obnoxious penalty to be flagged for. All the offensive line has to do to avoid it is stand still until the ball is snapped. Florida State right guard Zebrie Sanders seems to have made an art form out of it. In the video below, Sanders does not even flinch even after the ball is snapped. While the quarterback is running for his life, Sanders remains in his position like a statue, with absolutely no apparent clue of what is going on.

um..Sleep Apnea doesn't cause people to fall asleep. It causes them to stop breathing while they are sleeping. (Apnea means 'no breath') But there is a type of seizure that can look similar to this where a person sort of 'zones' out for a few seconds/ minutes. It is called a Absence Seizure.

If you're going to have a sports section, try finding some writers who know a thing or two about the sports that they are covering.

I want to know where that announcer has been...man? Linemen are trained not to flinch when encroachment occurs on the other side of the line. Sure he made a show of it. But while this announcer was apparently spiking the ball in the end zone, bumping fists, strutting, pounding on his chest, sticking his finger in G-d's nose for the perfunctory credit and statement of faith (our hero) and throwing up gang signs (as if he could have scored without an offensive line), offensive linemen were working their tails off with no hope of the recognition narcissists such as that announcer live for. In fact, his arrogance shows big time. Zip it, punkster. It's not your position.

I don't know where you have been, but he's called a commentator, not an announcer. But that's besides the point. Are you sitting there assuming that he was throwing up gang signs because he's black? If so, then someone's obviously a racist. And yes, the lineman was trained to do that, but you have to have the awareness to protect your quarterback when the freeze play obviously failed. Players were running all around him and he was still sitting there like a log. Don't sit there and try to defend him when you KNOW he was wrong.

Actually he was right, the guys who call the play-by-play during the game are commentators. This was a highlight show, and it was the announcer who's voice you heard. Anyway, that's a petty thing to point out, announcer/commentator, who really cares? Just make your point.

a great strategy It worked so well

Why is this story still on here? It has been accurately explained by people in the comment section. He was doing what he was supposed to do. The whole line did it several times during the game. The author of this piece should remove it now to avoid further embarrassment.
