Tiger Woods, Wife Elin Nordegren Woods: PRENUP Negotiations (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:50 PM ET

It did not take long after Tiger Woods issued a public apology for unspecified "transgressions" that rumors began to swirl about the financial negotiations between Woods and his wife, Elin Nordegren Woods. First, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Woods was paying his wife "a hefty seven-figure amount" to stay with him. The article also said that a new prenuptial agreement is in the works.

Today, Gerald Posner of the Daily Beast writes that Woods will likely soon pay his wife $5 million and that the prenup could ultimately fetch her $55 million after two years.

Other financial dealings have been rumored as well. One of Woods' alleged mistresses, Rachel Uchitel (PHOTOS), was reportedly scheduled to admit to having an affair with Woods today but it was canceled at the last moment, which coincided with a RadarOnline.com report that Woods' representatives offered Uchitel $1 million to remain silent. (UPDATE: TMZ says no such deal has occurred.)

It also remains unclear what will happen with Woods' two other alleged mistresses. Jaimee Grubbs (PHOTOS), who claims to have had a 31-month relationship with Woods, already released text messages and a voicemail purportedly from the golfer. She also may have made a sex tape with an ex-boyfriend.

Kalika Moquin, the other woman linked to Woods, denied rumors of an affair to UsMagazine.com

Below are photos of Tiger Woods and his wife.

Tiger should learn a lesson from Charlie Sheen: you're supposed to pay them to LEAVE, not to STAY!

It would have been a "prenup" before the marriage. It's now called "hush money."

There is a reason wealthy, succesful men (and women) have a prenup - and this is one of the best. Spousal cheating has nothing to do with money, race, or career path ... it happens in all social and economic strata of our culture.

They will decide what they want to do - based on what they think is best for each of them. He agreed to the pre-nup knowing the odds, she signed knowing what may be in it for her. Lot's of couples stay together and lot's break up. Bottom line - most don't have the cash, fame and fortune to make the news.

Here's some PR advice for Tiger. Just hold a press conference saying, "I'm sorry. I just wasn't ready for marriage," and execute the prenup (that's what it's for). Pay his wife a couple of million extra plus child support and get joint custody. That would pull the rug from underneath everyone who now has their hand out. If his wife can't live without him and wants to stay at that point, they can start over without the financial blackmail.

We're dealing with a serial philanderer here at a very young age, long before he can even claim a "mid-life crisis." Time for Elin to make her best financial deal and move on. She can do better.

Maybe she can do better, but not necessarily. It depend ultimately on what she deems important to her, not what the public deems to be important. Marriages are all individual, and unique, and people have their own way of looking at things. We know nothing about the daily interaction over the years, and the bond and love between Tiger and his wife. Nor should we.

Hillary didn't leave. Cosby's wife didn't leave. Spitzer's wife didn't leave. Kobe's wife didn't leave. Sanford's wife though separated is still open to reconciliation. And Julianna Margulies is kissing "the cheating with a prostitute" Chris Noth again on "The Good Wife". And it seems totally plausible.

Marital and relationship roots can go pretty deep sometimes. And once the emotional disappointment cools, only then can you think clearly about your direction. Only Elin Woods knows all the true pros and cons of her marriage to Tiger. That's what she has to weigh up. I have no idea what she'll decide. I'll just respect it either way.

Oh Really. Our culture today encourages and glamorizes young men, athletes and celebrities to "sow their wild oats" and then expect tell them that it is enough - marry, settle down, have children and grow up. Turning off the faucet is not a easy thing to do.

I just listened to the full recorded police interview of Tiger's neighbors who made the 911 call posted on another website. A couple of thing they said:

Tiger was laying in the street on the passenger side of the vehicle
They think the driver's door was open, but were on the other side of the vehicle with Tiger and couldn't confirm
They saw one rear window smashed out
Tiger had no shoes on - just shorts and blue shirt - very little blood from a split lip - no other injuries noticed
Tiger was snoring as he lay in the street (!)
They smelled no alcohol, nor saw any drugs, etc - they helped stablize his head with a pillow and a blanket
A golf cart was just behind Tiger - in it were two golf clubs on the seat
Tiger's mother and mother-in-law were present
Elin said nothing, nor was she heard saying anything - she was dressed in a black track suit

Tiger was SNORING?

I'm sorry, but there is no way in the world I believe this article. Only Tiger, his wife, and their lawyers, and financial advisors would know the details of any financial negotiations--if in fact, there are any going on. There would be a very small circle of people with the true information, and the leaks would be easily traceable.

Given Tiger and his wife's penchant for privacy, there is no way that they would remotely allow information to be leaked to the public that showed neither of them in a good light and would paint their marriage, and future behavior as nothing but a purchased sham. Tiger fired his first caddy for revealing to the public his payment arrangement with Tiger in an article in a Golf magazine article on caddies. All the caddies revealed their salaries, but he was the only one to be fired. Do you think Tiger would stonewall the media, only to reveal that he had bought his wife's continued presence, fake smiles, and sexual favors. I don't . How would a clearly fake marriage help Tiger's image with his sponsors and the public?

If one of their lawyers or staff leaked anything this private, they'd be gone in a heartbeat from "Tiger World". While a negotiation certainly is possible, it is certainly unverifiable by the media. I think this is just a case of the media using innuendo and rumor, masquerading as fact.

Allow me to say a few words in response to all the outrage being display here, vis-a-vis Mrs. Tiger's alleged demand for a greater prenuptial settlement.

First, in the event of a divorce or a separation, where marital fault (e.g. adultery) is proven, the most a Court can do is to award assets and money to the blameless spouse. A Judge cannot order the philandering spouse to be jailed or executed - no matter how much one might wish it.

What the Judge can do, however, is to give the blameless party a larger share of the marital property, than would otherwise be warranted ... as a consequence of the adulterer's bad conduct that has resulted in the demise of the marriage.

Second, in this case, Mrs. Tiger is the economically-dependent spouse. Accordingly, a divorce is likely to affect her to an inordinate degree, unless she can be assured of receiving a sufficient portion of the marital estate as will help meet her needs, and support the standard of living to which she became accustomed during the marriage.

Third, a renegotiation of the prenuptial agreement would help alleviate Mrs. Tiger's concerns over finances and would obviate the need to drag this sordid affair through the Court system, especially if the parties have indicated their intention to keep the marriage intact - at least for the time being.

I think this is a domestic violence case against one Mrs. Tiger. Who runs out of the house with a 3 wood in hand? I think he was getting slapped around (hence the quick escape at 2:25am), she chased him with the 3 wood, he got distracted and drove into the tree. Why smash the back window of the car to get him out? Unless, I am not giving one Mrs. Tiger credit for being quick on her feet. I think she was chasing the car and when the car hit the tree she smashed the back window and then realized the severity of the issue. If Tiger is willing to tell the truth he should admit that she hit him. I find it hard to believe that a low speed car accident would leave cuts in ones face and such (reported). If a seat belt was in place then maybe some soreness if no seat belt was in place a bumped head (hence the unconscious nature of the Tiger when found).

I say this is a clear case of domestic violence in which the victim (one Mr. Tiger) is afraid to tell the truth! What says you Mr. Jaxy?

Of course this is all speculation and not meant to be taken too seriously :-)

It would appear that a case of domestic battery coud be made against Mrs. Tiger, but only if hubby decides to press the issue. For now, he is not. But you never know, he may try to use it as a bargaining chip later on? Stay tuned ...

Golddigger comes to mind.

How is what she's doing any better than what he did?

It's not like she helped him earn the money he's made. She's only

ever swung a golf club at him and I personally don't think that should count.

Sorry but apparently Tiger cheated on his ex-girlfriend with Elin and Elin knew tiger was dating someone at the time. So I guess there is Karma, you cannot change a man. It was bound to happen to her, sorry.
