I have seen computer keyboards with PASTEL COLORED KEYS several times on shows like Nightline and the evening news.

They weren't featured but just panned over by the camera as something else was being talked about.

I have searched on the Internet but all I can find are children's keyboards with colored keys.

Does anyone have one and/or know where I can purchase one?

What to get for the person who has everything? Except sense, taste, a conscience, or a life.

In keeping with the spirit of the Horrordays, here's a veritable panorama of [insert expletive], each item of which seeks to outdo the others in terms of absolute, soul-destroying excrescence.

Let's buy it all. Better still, let's buy it all on credit. And let's be careful not to wonder who gets paid when ads are run as articles.

I bought a Portable Photograph To Digital Picture Converter from Hammacher Schlemmer for 119.00. It's supposed to scan photos into digital format. It's basically a small scanner except it doesn't need a computer, you can just stick your memory card in there and save the jpegs. It looks simple enough to use.

I also purchased "Clocky," the clock that runs away, because my son likes to hit the snooze button way too much. Clocky gives you one chance to snooze and if you don't get up, it's supposed to jump off your nightstand using the wheels built on to it and roll around the room to hide - all while the alarm is still going off! This should be hilarious for me to see in action! My son, not so much. Nordstrom was the most reputable site that I could find with the least expensive price of 44.00.

For the second thing, I just set all five of my cell phone's alarms to go off in one to five minute intervals and keep it on the other side of my room. The only time that failed to keep me awake was after a 24 hour shift, and even then I woke up sitting against my dresser, so at least I got out of bed.

I have decided to go Martha Stewart this year for my closest friends on my Christmas list. All of them are medical marijuana patients and I will be building a cedar stash box for them to keep their various supplies handy and orderly. Inside each box, I will add a half ounce of sticky buds that I started from seeds obtained from a Dutch medicinal seed house and carefully grew using organic fertilizers. I guarantee you that they will like this present more than anything made in China (with the possible exception of a Chinese gymnast).

You would think coffee and the Huffpost would go together well but I find that they are a dangerous combination.

Our technical inventiveness, free markets, and openness to diversity and innovation make the US an incredible spawning ground for amazing discoveries. As enchanted as we are with this beautiful stuff, let us not forget that these are ultimately the products of our human brains.

Obvious? Well - enter neuroscience as it has been evolving in the past several decades.

Our brains' complexity evolved primarily to enable calculations that enable out social relationships. Pure and simple -- our brains and their activities - our minds are what they are because of the biological necessity of social bonding. Rocket science, neurosurgery, gee-whiz gadgets, great art, etc. are but side benefits of this wonderful miracle.

So - when we consider what gadgets to buy, especially for our kids, we must consider technology's impact on the ecologies of our brains. Raising kids, we must protect their brains and minds as they interact with new technologies at the expense of family relationships.

DO NOT buy the power mat shown, based on my opinion only. read up how you spend another 40 bucks per unit you would like to charge and that the charging falls way short. simply llok at commenst by most online...

too many who bought it regret it...

You're right, Jukebox. Just hopped over to Amazon's reviews and the Powermat is a huge waste of money. While it DOES charge, fairly affectively, you have to buy the special case for each device you want to charge. So that $100 powermat is pointless unless you spend another $40 for the iPod case(or other similar case for your device). It does come with "connector tips" that you have to PLUG in to your device in order to get them to charge the associated devices... but then you're basically buying a fancy charging station that is no more convenient than the cables that came with your device.

As for the infrared keyboard, try just tapping your fingers on a table. That's what its like "typing" on an infrared keyboard. No tactile response at all, no "bounce" of the keys, and nothing to guide your fingers to the home row. And good luck hitting key combos without staring intently at your fingers.

Funny, this year no gadget add ons, and each teen maybe gets a replacement gadget due to their loss or theft.

Smaller, less gigabytes too. Times have changed and I'm teaching downsizing.

The only gadget I want is a french fry cutter. I'm trying to stop buying things that I can make on my own. Why buy french fries if you can run a potato through a press/cutter and make your own?
06:02 AM on 12/05/2009
Yeah, I'm actually trying to do the same thing with kettle chips. And the plus side is that I can season it to my own tastes.

The thought of finally eating some potato chips that are actually spicy to my South Indian tastebuds is mouthwatering.

That Dyson blade-less fan is really appealing but for $300 I will stick with the traditional models for now.

As expensive as the device itself is, the Handpresso is clearly making its money off the last word, "pods". Those "coffee pods" are akin to razor blades, which is where makers of razors make their real money. You won't be able to put any old coffee you want to in there. You will be stuck buying proprietary coffee pods. Care to guess how much they cost?

I think the new handpressos don't require pods. The mypressi doesn't either -- but it does require cartidges.
