Tiger Woods OVERDOSE? OD Listed On Hospital Chart

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:50 PM ET

TMZ reports that Tiger Woods was listed as an overdose when he admitted to the hospital following his post-Thanksgiving car accident. According to the article, his charts are marked "OD" and a note says he was having difficulty breathing.

This follows up with reports from earlier today that the investigating officer at the crash scene requested a subpoena to look into Woods' medical records after suspecting that Woods had taken Vicodin and Ambien and had drunk alcohol.

I don't know where TMZ gets its information from but in Washington State they would have broken the law by giving out private medical information without permission from the person the medical information is about. In Washington State a doctor or hospital cannot give out medical information to anyone, not even family unless the patient has given permission. My parents had to get a power of attorney for me to get any medical information on them.

This type of thing happens, especially where celebrities are concerned and money is exchanged for information. Either someone at the hospital leaked his medical information or it was someone at the police station who saw the records.

Releasing anyone's medical records without their written permission is against a federal law., Called HIPPA.

There are all types of stories of people crashing cars under the influence of Ambien at www.ambienoverdose.org. It needs to be used for sleep alone, once you take it you must shut down activities that require motor skills and rapid decision making.

Tell me about it! I took this stuff when I had shingles some years ago and the next day I almost crashed my car. The stuff stays with you for a long time. Also, I got horrible muscle cramps while using it. Finally just threw the pills away.

Tiger is at a crossroads that many who are idolized superstars in any field have to come to terms with: his own very self for believing the false notion of greatness (beyond athletic prowess) and being licentious with it. Time for the work of all human beings. Either his shame will turn to redemptive suffering and help him through, or he might destroy himself. All you praying people, pray for Tiger and his family.

This is sooo stupid - do you people really think Tiger could compete in the top golfing tournament in the world high? Speculation that doesn't make any sense at all.

I tend to agree with you, though I have known highly functioning alcoholics and drug users -- they are not the norm, I suspect.

Duh...no one said he was high at the tournament.

He sure seemed to be during the British Open! Wasn't even near the cut line and trashed his hotel room while over there.

The white heat of this will cool down in time. But I'm afraid it's not over yet.

If this comes to divorce (how couldn't it?) the long-standing rumors of his steroid use could also explode.

i heard and i am not sure if its true but it was an open secret on the tour about Tiger and women being around and no one said a thing. he has been seen in public with women all over him and no one ever reported it.

i think we are going to here some real bad stories about Tiger and women since he was old enough to what to do with a women!!

Tiger and women - bad stories or natural as moth to a flame? The drug issue is a cause for concern though. Alas, he is human afterall. Who would have thunk?

Wilt Chamberlain bragged about his 10,000 affairs. Magic Johnson's reputation survived HIV. Elite athletes are like rock stars when it comes to women. These guys have women throwing themselves at them all the time. Look at all the women now claiming to be a piece of Tiger. Mike Tyson & Kobe Bryant were disgraced because women cried rape, although in Bryant's case the charges were dropped. Tiger isn't a rape case. It's a married situation, which is regrettable but not unusual when it comes to high profile, powerful people of both sexes. Tiger will survive to golf another day. It may take time, but he will get through this.

From Jimmy Swaggart to Michael Jordan to Mark Sanford... it's not just athletes. "Preachers," politicians, businessmen, .... whatever. Just seems Tiger is more "prolific" than most who get busted. As I sit here I'm wondering how many women in high positions have been doing the "booty call" too, but don't get busted because they are more discreet or pick men who have just as much to lose.

Far as I can remember, Woods has never pitched himself as a saint, but rather as the finest golfer to ever walk the links. He is still that.
10:51 PM on 12/08/2009
His image is carefully managed by his various handlers. Well, not carefully enough, I guess.

Yes, he is a fine golfer, and his being a personal mess has nothing to do with that. He shouldn't have attempted to maintain an image so far afield of reality. After all, as a friend pointed out, there was no reason for him to marry. He could have been Tiger, the playboy golfer, and no one would have thought anything about it. It never works out if you pretend to be what you are not.

Jack Nicklaus' record is safe now. No way does Tiger return to the form that enabled him to dominate golf the way he has over the last decade and more. Can you say David Duval?

Really? LOL If he does come back and want to play golf he'll be more dominant than before. Now that this is out in the open he can refocus on golf if he chooses. Then there will be all the fodder for him to "get mad" and destroy the fields again like around 1999-2000.

This family is in a lot of pain. The media needs to respect their privacy. This kind of media frenzy reminds me of the way the press went overboard with Princess Di and Michael Jackson. They're sharks looking for blood. Woods is not perfect, no one is.
