Plastic Surgery

Cracked.com:

Plastic surgery has blessed us with something our forefathers never had: huge boobs on skinny girls. But science--and shallow people with extra money to throw around--were not satisfied with that miracle.

No, they continued developing plastic surgery techniques that strayed out of the realm of the vain and image-obsessed and into the land of WTF.

Absolutely insane what people do! What about if wide feet go in style? Will we add cadaver toes? Can I opt not to donate my toes on the back of my DL license?

The best line from this, and one that sums up our ridiculousness perfectly is: "We really don't deserve to survive as a species."

Circumcision should be on the list.
In our modern world, unless you have a religious reason, it is totally unnecessary. It is elective cosmetic surgery, pure and simple, on people too young to decide for themselves. If people bath daily and practice normal hygiene it is NOTnecessary. Maybe in some parts of the 3rd world it can help avoid some maladies, but in advanced countries it is too routinely done in hospitals for cosmetic reasons alone, it’s wrong.

My laugh for the day. Particularly the pointed ears. One day she will ask herself the proverbial Dr. Phil question, "What the hell was I thinking"?

Removing the little toes sounds completely ridiculous. It's like adjusting your body to fit the shoe fashion instead of finding a shoe that fits you. Cause and effect turned upside down. I understand fixing stuff that prevent you from walking without pain. But most women feet are beautiful without any surgery with just proper care.
Wait, early in the century it was fashionable to remove molars to make cheeks look slimmer. Or may be it was a side effect from inability to consume solid food?

They left out the labia surgery. Some women actually think their labias hang too low and have them surgically altered. Men do this to their testicles as well. *shudders*

Most plastic surgeries are done to "magically" lift that person self-esteem instead of going to psychotherapist and engage in REAL self-improving.
We too much believe in "magic pill", instant gratification instead of long and mindful work on yourself

Two points on the procedures the article mentions:

Sometimes a voice lift is done to enable a person to speak. I know a person who had botched surger and lost ability to talk above a whisper. A voice lift helped them speak normally again.

Micropigmentation is not permanent. Younger women lose the tint in 2-3 years, older in 3-5. My wife is licensed and does it for girls who want to be bright-eyed and beautiful after a night at the disco or day at the pool. Of course she wouldn't have it done, since it seems half her joy in life is the purchase and application of cosmetics :)

I must comment on the language used in this article we have been referred to. It would never pass the board of censors we have at HP..... then why do they lead us in this direction?

I would totally have kids with a woman who had elf ears - surgical or mutation!

Plastic surgery is for burn victims and people with scars and such in my book. I am proud to look just like I was meant to by nature. I am blessed I think to resemble my Grandmother. I guess I am an earth mother type. I delight in not putting gobs of make up on or doing silly things to my hair.
