Mascot Dunk Attempt FAIL: Jumping Off Exercise Ball Does Not Work (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:55 PM ET

This unidentified mascot really should have known that trying to dunk off of an exercise ball had little chance of ending well. In hindsight, his key mistake was having too much of his momentum going forward instead of stopping to jump up and then down on the bouncy ball.

As for you, reader, this Digg submitter put it best: "If you thought there was any chance that jumping off this exercise ball wouldn't end in utter failure for this cat, you don't watch many Internet videos."

What's wrong with these people? You make sure the guy's okay, then laugh.

That's funny as hell. Not that he failed at dunking the ball, or fell down, but that nobody in the entire auditorium came to help him. The two refs just stood there staring at him 5 feet away writhing on the ground in pain. The initial failure gave me a little smile, but then the 20 seconds of him rolling around unassisted got me going good.

Portis did not take to many hits to the his head. In a nice and subtle way he is telling all the gossip queens to mind your business. Whatever Tiger does or does not do in personal life and affairs is not your business, my business or anybody else's business. As far as people losing respect for Tiger remember this Tiger did not ask for your respect nor did he wear his moral ideology on his sleeve. More power to you Tiger, I wish I was in your shoes.

If the pratfall wasn't deliberate, then why didn't the onlookers rush to the mascot's aid. t seemed to me
that they knew it was all for show.

This is the funniest thing I've ever seen.

That's what you get when you try to dunk in a cat suit.

A great example of how most people simply do not understand the most basic aspects of physics. I remember reading a paper on this topic a while back, where a physicist claimed this was in part driven by Hollywood action movies altering our perceptions of human capability, to sometimes tragic effect. Like when people seeing Jason Bourne leaping confidently from roof top to roof top, when in reality the vast majority of people could not leap gaps of more than a few feet without great risk of injury or death.
