New poll shows most Americans favor a global warming treaty that further ships the rest of their industries overseas and pays a direct tax to the IMF and World Bank so they can "give" it to poor countries to set up the same industries we gutted because we were worried about something that never happened while ignoring the high stakes looting and further destruction of our economy and infrastructure by the same high-tech raiders scaring us with the impending doom of sudden climate change and icebergs and drowned polar bears bouncing off the California beaches.

I don't see anyone talking about:
"Moral Imperative" plus "Financial Imperative" plus" No Oil Dependence. " for future generations --How can that be ng?

PS: I'm a woman over 65 who wants the best for my great grand children--approaching Climate Change from a "Better Safe Than Sorry" makes sense to me.

According to the deniers, that would make "most Americans" a hoax. Therefore, dramatically scaling back the human population responsible for CO2 emissions, thus confirming the non-existence of global climate change. I'll get to work on FEMA camps and Bigfoot after lunch.

Just illustrates that when secularists hear the words "science says" it is the same as when religious fundamentalists hear "the bible says"....Science Says: Global Warming is caused by man....OOPS! Guess we shouldn't tell people that it really is just a bunch of computer modeling....that can't be wrong can it?
12:37 PM on 12/15/2009
When you talk of modeling, you should mention decision theory. Science, in the way that you are using the term, indicates a specific and narrow form of reasoning.

wondering if you understood that...
12:50 PM on 12/15/2009
The practical application of decision theory is decision analysis. When you apply draconian taxes to 85% of our carbon based economy, my analysis tells me the following: The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen. All I'm saying is that with so much of our economy at stake the GW believers shouldn't be so quick to realize that the computer models can be manipulated either way based on the inputs. Science is political these days like it or not.

The properties of CO2 are not a mystery. Long before the IPCC it was a proposed as a way to terraform and warm Mars.

Too bad it takes 67 senators to ratify anything that comes out of Copenhagen. Thank God! Remember Kyoto?
11:37 AM on 12/15/2009
just wait...soon the neocons will be showing right wing poll after another claiming that Americans don't support a GW treaty.
11:38 AM on 12/15/2009
Why bother when this one shows exactly that when you tell the respondents how much it will cost to implement the effects of the treaty?
12:11 PM on 12/15/2009
Young people, those 18 to 29 years old, are by far the most supportive of a treaty, backing the idea by 66%-26%. Those over 65 are opposed by 49%-42%.

so, who is most likely to have a clue as to the science....

hmmmm

Also, China's investment into green technologies dwarfs any of the proposals for our investment into green technologies....I'm willing to bet that the china leadership understands what is needed for the future...

The costs of not implementing it is far greater.
12:25 PM on 12/15/2009
I would love to see the sampling of this poll. I'm sure the rest of the world would love a treaty with the American suckers too. Any international agreement means more of our tax dollars into their pockets.

corporations already take our tax dollars and spend it abroad. Wake up!

It will be good for the economy - it may take some dollars from the oil and coal companies - but who cares.
11:34 AM on 12/15/2009
Gee, I don't know - how about the countless numbers of Americans who are employed by those oil and coal companies?
11:48 AM on 12/15/2009
That's like the farriers complaining when cars made carriages obsolete. The future is in green energy, and there will be plenty of jobs there. Of course, if we clean up the environment at the same time, a lot of oncologists will be out of business so, yeah, let's keep on burning carcinogenic fuels that, by the way, also kill vegetation, which is going to put agriculture out of business, and grocery stores due to widespread crop failure. But, oh well!

Ignorance is a virtue in the south - they think Reagan was a great president and Palin could be one.
10:32 AM on 12/15/2009
It also says that 85% think the priority should be the economy.
10:24 AM on 12/15/2009
Of course Americans support a "Global Warming Treaty". They've been told that to not support one is to want gen.ocide.

Polls like this are pointless, because most Americans have no idea the impact such a treaty would have on them. When they are told of the impact, their desire for something like this falls dramatically -- just like the health insurance debate.

who are you kidding - not everyone cares only about their pocketbooks. And in reality this will help the economy and jobs.
11:36 AM on 12/15/2009
Please explain how it will help the economy and jobs when the costs of these programs adds to our taxes?

61% of American oppose HCR, but Obama and the Dems are pushing it anyhow, so who cares what the majority of people want??
