Copenhagen Week #2: A Sign That Hope Is Not Yet Lost? (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:55 PM ET

The second week of the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference has seen sharper divisions between developing and developed countries. Many representatives from the G77, an allegiance of the world's poorer nations, walked out of the conference, accusing wealthier nations of killing the deal. Although talks have since resumed, the sharp differences between rich and poor nations has cast a shadow over the conference. Several impassioned leaders, however, remain determined to bridge the divide.

Reporter Olivia Zaleski spoke with the UK's Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband, on the issue and then caught up with the leading representative of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), Ambassador Dessima Williams.

Watch Zaleski's report (produced by Gabriel London of Found Object Films and edited by Peter Buntaine) here:

hey algore just said that the polar ice caps would be completely melted in 5 years!

oh wait, he said that 5 years ago too.

so, i guess theyre already melted then?

they're not?
oh, and the sscientist that you said told you that has totally denied it?
hmmm, thats interesting...

but dont forget about the polar bears getting added to the extinct animals list, you say?

but, we have almost 10 times the number of polar bears now, than we did a decade ago...

oh well so much for that theory

"all i know is algore told me what to think, so i must believe"

...so count me as someone who is very progressive, but embarrassed and ashamed to have him as "one of us"... and saddened that so many fellow progressives cant see what a fake, phony and a fraud he is

With all this activity in Copenhagen, you would think that someone would go over to the Copenhagen tide station to see how serious the global warming is, based on the accelerated rate of sea level rise.

If someone did this , they would find that the long term sea level rise is only about two inches per century! Definitely a major crisis. This sea level rise has been occurring since records have been kept, and shows no sign of accelerating.

Oh well, it was a great party, anyway. Wonder who paid for it? And where is the next one going to be? And wasn't the Chilean sea bass delicious?

The world will end if we don't do something, yet I hardly see any comments in the green section, if the world was really ending you'd think that would be even more important than health care, can't have health care if the world ends.

You've been listening to Al Gore again. Didn't you read yesterday that his latest scare was not factual? He is scaring you to control you. Read other sources and find out the truth.
