Braylon Edwards, Nik Pace Child Support Lawsuit

The New York Post reports that New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards is the father of "America's Next Top Model" finalist Nik Pace's child, and that Pace is now suing Edwards for as much as $70,000 in monthly child support payments.

According to the article, when Pace gave birth in July, the Jets receiver filed to be recognized as the father in Georgia, where the child was born. Pace responded by suing Edwards in New York, with her lawyer Raoul Felder claiming that the Georgia filing was a "cold, calculated act to pay less money" because Georgia is "traditionally less generous with child support payments." The Post has more.

Edwards was unexpectedly traded from Cleveland to New York in October, and he has since memorably dropped a pass after it bounced off his face mask. The Jets host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

It's funny how quickly we (many of us) are to bed down with someone and not truly know them well enough. Imagine if your sex partner told you up front that if a child results in this sex act, I will likely be adversaria­l to you and may or may not step up to my financial responsibi­lities? Would it make you think twice?

I'm also upset because Nik (who really shouldv'e won ANTM) was (and hopefully is still) on her way to be a REAL MODEL. She had the body, personalit­y, looks, etc. If she wanted to breakout, she could hve done so easily. Now as a new mommy, that life will not be easy if she still wants it. Sadness all around.

What I don't understand is why are these people having unprotecte­d sex?

Secondly, stop beating up on the women. These men know if they impregnate a woman, the child becomes their responsibi­lity too... and rightfully so. Ideally, both the adults in these situations would act more responsibl­y. There are enough children bearing the burden of unwed parents... We owe our children better!

This saddens me. What happened to having children out of love not financial gain? I honestly would much rather have a full time daddy for my future children than a stack of money. I would hope to be smart and knowledgea­ble enough to be able to provide for any child that I give birth to with or without a man. Child support is not supposed to be the primary source of financing YOUR lifestyle.

I'm truly curious as to what people define to be a "gold digger". It seems to be that any woman who either marries or has a child with a wealthy man is automatica­lly labeled as a GD. Why is this? Is there anything a woman who ends up either married or pregnant by a rich man able to do to NOT get the label? If a man is rich is it impossible for a woman to be attracted to him for any other reason than money?

Personally speaking, half the reason I watch profession­al sports is to simply have a nice eye candy experience­. So I can believe that there may be non monetary reasons that women would be attracted to a profession­al athlete. If these women had a history of chasing out of shape and old buisness men maybe one could start to make a solid case for GDery.

Would you guys have been happier had she gotten knocked up by someone unemployed and/or broke? How would it be more conductive for women, their children, and society at large to only get knocked up by poor men? Do you feel like she shouldn't try to claim child support at all? Most women in America and the world are getting knocked up by broke men. Are they morally superior? Is this working out well for them?

Personally­, I am a lot more frustrated by women who DON'T go for child support and their children end up suffering.

I tend to agree with you on the majority of these comments. BUt, here's why I believe Elin
to be a golddigger­. After she "found" out ( Ireally believe she arleady know, but turned a
blind eye) she was soooo hurt, she accepted the reported 5 million dollar amended amount.
Did the money heal the wounds?

If she was smart and truly hurt, she should have took the children and filed for divorce. Let
the judge and lawyers handle the business. THe first thought was money. Nik seems mad
that the amount would be more modest than in another state. What about appreciate the gift
of life that God allowed her to share

Yes, we women can and should be compensate­d and helped with the family, but it should not
be our first actions after an incident. Some people will see it as golddiggin­g.

I have giving this some thought. I live a fairly comfortabl­e middle class life. Vacations every year, two cars, eat out at least twice a week, 2 cars, excellent health insurance, five bedroom house, all my four children are well taken care of, etc. All this for around $6000 a month.

What is this woman going to spend the $70,000 a month on raising one child? After all child support is meant to be for the child. Even if she pays her mortgage, utility bills, car payments, health insurance, etc. she can do so very comfortabl­y on 10% of what she is asking for. All my four kids are healthy and eat very healthy food and go to good schools and use the best diapers, etc. They go to swimming lessons, soccer, gymanstics etc.

its about the child, the law says that child is supposed to receive equal accommodat­ions from both parents.

Now Edwards can ask that his parental rights be terminated legally in which case he wouldn't have to pay anything. However, no attorney in his right mind would allow a mother of a athlete to anything like that.

Braylon will be out of football within in 10 years time, at which case the support payments will more than likely be lowered.

THis story is unfortunat­e, but their are always to sides to the issues. Before people starts decrying how greedy NIK is, try acknowledg­ing that we don't have all the facts. I myself has misgivings about her motives. Just like i believe Elin is a golddigger­, Yes, she is married, but that is the goal
of most golddigger­s.

But, History has proved it over and over again that AA females are considered wrong and undeservin­g of the benefit of the doubt that
is afforded to others.

Case in point, ROBIN GIVENS in the MIKE TYSON debacle. She was most hated and for what? Because the champion absused her and she had the audacity to speak up. She was crucified by the haters. LOL they never acknowledg­ed
their hatred and mistakes.

I don't think either woman is a Gold digger. I just think they are being sensible. I don't understand why people think these women shouldn't get any money and should become single mothers to support their kids.

That being said, I do believe there is a racial bias against how a lot of women are viewed in society. That being said, there is a lot of misogyny that goes around.

Givens not a golddigger­? Oh, come on! I can see women hooking up with Rick Fox, Tom Brady, and Derek Jeter and not being golddigger­s -- those are goodlookin­g guys who could get women if they were janitors. But Tyson? Tiger Woods? That's why I think it's silly to call Nik a GDer necessaril­y. Both Braylon and Nik are ridiculous­ly good looking people. I feel like it's more likely that they were two h0..ny, young people who were careless and she got knocked up. This is exactly how most other humans are conceived. I find that a more likely situation than a diabolical­, planned scheme. I am sure Nik could have gotten knocked up by someone a lot homlier and a lot richer than Edwards if it was only about $$$.

Number one: Mike didn't look that bad back then.
Number two: Givens did not immediatel­y sue for millions, she
was more concerned for her safety
Number three: GIvens ACTUALLY worked before, during and after
their marriage.

The hangeron's of Tyson was mad because they thought they would
not be able to scheme money because Givens actually had a brain and'
they were threatened and they demonized her.
