There is nothing like a good comeback story to lift the spirits and renew your hope in the seemingly impossible. These eleven, amazing animals were all pushed to the brink of extinction. With the help of conservationists, however, they've turned into comeback kids. These animals also prove that with enough effort, people truly can protect endangered wildlife. Check out their inspiring stories.

Przewalski's horse is considered the world's only remaining, truly wild horse. Until recently, it was classified as extinct in the wild due to habitat loss. In November 2009, the IUCN downgraded the horses' status to critically endangered. There are now about 280 horses living on their own in two national parks. Bringing this rare species back from the brink of extinction has been a tremendous victory for conservationists, but Przewalski's horse will require much more safeguarding before it is truly thriving.
