Glenn Beck Named 'Misinformer Of The Year'

Glenn Beck's well of ridiculous was deep and poisonous before he launched his Fox News show, but the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States -- and the permissive cheerleading of his Fox News honchos -- uncorked the former Morning Zoo shock jock's unique brand of vitriol, stage theatrics, and hyperbolic fright, making him an easy choice for Media Matters' 2009 Misinformer of the Year.

When he wasn't calling the president a racist, portraying progressive leaders as vampires who can only be stopped by "driv[ing] a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers," or pushing the legitimacy of seceding from the country, Beck obsessively compared Democrats in Washington to Nazis and fascists and "the early days of Adolf Hitler." He wondered, "Is this where we're headed," while showing images of Hitler, Stalin, and Lenin; decoded the secret language of Marxists; and compared the government to "heroin pushers" who were "using smiley-faced fascism to grow the nanny state."

I hear all the accusation­s that Beck is a liar/misin­former but can someone please give some specific examples? I submit to you that, 99% of the time, Glenn Beck is right on. Liberals just can't stand to hear the truth so they attack the messenger. Again, please be specific and say where your so-called 'real truth' comes from. Let the name calling and vengeance begin (resume).

Clearly, after McCain-Fei­ngold's passage, the media matters more than ever, but that doesn't make MediaMatte­rs correct. They are misinforme­d, as Beck has proven correct as much as human beings can be expected to be. And, by the way, I was the first to describe Obama et al as vampires, I believe. An apt simile.

I don't think that website is still operating. It was taken over by Townhall.c­om and the original articles no longer available as far as I know.

I was recently on vacation and Faux was one of the few English language stAtions. After 5 minutes of Beck I switched to an all Spanish station and found it easier to translate Spanish into English then Beck into common sense. BTW I don't speak Spanish.

Glenn Beck's Gal Pal Palin, is a coward.

Story just in. She banned people ( bloggers ) from her last hometown book signing today.

Shannyn Moore, immoral minority blogger, and a CNN Media man were on a ' banned list '.

So much for standing up for 1st Amendment Rights. Sounds like censorship­.

Excusez-mo­i, but Sarah Palin is NOT NOW IN THE GOVERNMENT­. She is not forbidden by the 1st Amendment from banning people from her book signings. There is nothing in the 1st Amendment that guarantees attendance at book signings, is there?

Beck's book "Arguing with Idiots" shows him on the cover with imagery and typography designed to bring Communism and possibly Nazism to mind. In many ways, the title seems an honest summation of Beck's mission in life. Still, it's hard to know if he's determined to convince idiots of the error of their ways, or if he's arguing from their side of the cyclone fence.....­but either way......t­he award seems appropriat­e.
