Nice post, but you left out the most beautiful photos of Lady Bird--as a fine old lady amongst the flowers at her wildflower reasearch center.

OMG in 7 of the 14 photos - bare armed Lady Bird including one with bare shoulders. How did she ever get away with that?

What a lovely lady she was. Jackie Kennedy was a tough act to follow, but Lady Bird held her own, even though they were polar opposites, stylistically. Jackie was cool, aloof, regal and elegant, Lady Bird was real and down-to-earth with her own sense of self. It was she who gave the impetus to the environmental movement. Whenever I travel on the interstate and pass a section of wildflowers, I remember LadyBird. A class act all the way around.

In Oct. 1964, LBJ and Lady Bird came to Dover, Del. to campaign. I always thought that Lady Bird was attractive, but I was stunned when I saw her in person: she was drop-down dead gorgeous! She was wearing a yellow wool Chanel-type suit, which contrasted with her dark hair. Such a sweet, lovely person, too. RIP, Lady Bird. I always loved you.

LadyBird was one of our finest First Ladies. Always elegant and dignified. She will be forever associated with wildflowers from her beautify America project. She was a professional woman in her own right and served this country during a terrible time with distinction and grace.

Great post.....Lady Bird's dedicated efforts improved our highways and public places to create what we now consider the natural appearance of "America". Planted flowers and park benches replaced billboards and junkyards, giving the country something to be proud of. She was an even more active First Lady in some ways than Eleanor Roosevelt and a classy person who brought real change in a time of stress and conflict.

She was always a great dresser, but OH MY GOD! She's sleeveless! And strapless! And her calves and ankles are showing!

Too bad that Lady Bird's husband started the Dems on a conservative path and got the US into the Vietnam War.
