Lion, Tiger, Bear All Live Together: 'They Love Each Other' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:00 PM ET

Check out this endearing video of a lion, tiger and bear all living together in harmony. The animals, who were rescued in during a drug bust in 2001, were raised together and, according to the handlers at the Noah's Ark animal shelter, never grew up knowing they were supposed to be antagonists. As one of the handlers puts it, not only is there a bond but also genuine affection: "they love each other."

The fact three animals who would be fiercely competitive show that in a calm, loving environment with plenty of food, water, and needs met that relationships can form. So does that mean if children are not taught prejudice, hatred, mistruths....they would also grow together and find peace.

Dear spirit in the sky, what hath Thou wrought! We are in an anatomically impossible position. The economy, collapsed! Polar ice, melting! Dogs and cats, living together! Dodging cannibals and eating canned peaches! We won't even make it to Dec. 21, 2012, the end of the Mayan Calendar . . .

If lions, tigers, and bears can get along then, who knows, perhaps in the future some of the lower form of primates, e.g., Republicans and Democrats, might learn to get along also.

I would be even more impressed if that had a salmon-smelling antelope in there with them.

They don't need to eat each other because they are obviously being overfed. That is the fattest lion or tiger I've ever seen!

For the folks at Noahs Ark; thanks for giving these once truly wild animals a safe home.

This is an interesting phenomenom, but not at all surprising. I've done this very thing.

2 years ago my domestic cat had a litter of 6 kittens. Within 2 weeks I purchased a medium sized fancy rat. All 8 of these animals and myself formed a bond and played together daily as well as eat and sleep together. Piper the rat would mother and groom the kittens, they literally played "Cat and Mouse" together...... Piper the rat seems smarter or perhaps quicker at playing hide 'n seek and playing catch.

I took my cue from Pavlov and Skinner for anyone who might be interested in replacating such an experiment.

Quit feeding them and see which one eats the other first.

And I thought we were asking for it bringing a dachshund puppy into a house with five cats!

"All 8 of these animals and myself...sleep together"
- Psst: Don't let Rick Santorum hear you say that; it'll only encourage him.

Ha! Yeah I know. It takes a while to get used to a rat scampering around under the cover.

Actually Piper the Fancy Rat is a good deterrent for my Mother; Earlier this year she wanted to come to my house for an extended visit, but refuses to visit as long as I have a rat. I know, I know, that's mean. She's coming over for New Years and I've promised to keep Piper in a cage.

My only complaint about owning a rat is that they will steal food from you and hide it somewhere in the house. Very often I find carrots, celery sticks, apple slices or peanuts hidden behind a chair or table. She hordes food similar to squirrels.

Years ago I also owned a polecat (skunk) and a raccoon. Ah, mischeavious raccoons, now there's a story there that I'll save for another day. ;-)

I do wish those people would become educated before one of the animals eats them. The cat rubbing up against the bear might be a show of dominance; he may simply be spreading his scent on him. A lot of animal behaviors we see as being human-like and cute are not. Don't they at LEAST watch the Dog Whisperer? Maybe an animal behavior specialist will contact them and educate them before they are in the headlines again. Or maybe I don't know what the hell Im talking about, lol

Senator Lieberman - Can you go out into the back yard and feed these guys some steaks? Here - I'll tie some around your neck so you can carry more out. There you go.

Amazing what can be learned from animals when politics and religion aren't a factor. Too bad many humans forgot this in the evolution process.....
