"Mom always said 'don't play with your food,' and we do it for a living," laughs Assistant Pastry Chef Chris Phillips in this behind-the-scenes video showcasing the making of the annual gingerbread White House.

Head Pastry Chef Bill Yosses explains how the gingerbread is made with honey from the White House garden, and the pieces are glued together with white chocolate. (YUM.) The complete weight of the finished house? Well over 400 lbs. "It's really a labor of love," says Yosses.
