Steve King: Palin Will Run For White House In 2012, Could Win Iowa Caucuses

12/29/09 02:59 PM ET   AP

Sarah Palin

JOHNSTON, Iowa — An Iowa Republican congressman says he thinks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will seek the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 and that she's among a few people who could win the state's leadoff caucuses.

U.S. Rep. Steve King said Tuesday he initially thought Palin ended her political career when she resigned as governor last summer. But he said during a taping of an Iowa Public Television show that she's now in a far stronger position to succeed.

King says her book-signing tour has brought her enormous attention, and he complimented her political instincts.

Palin has only been in Iowa once since the election, for a book-signing event in Sioux City.

King says there would be plenty of time for Palin to mount a campaign.

I don't think anyone should worry about the Midwest anyway. Most the states in it have very few electoral votes.

I'm in the very middle of the Midwest, and the only person I know here who takes her seriously is a redneck originally from rural Louisianna.

Not even a walking political joke like Palin can make a teabag conservative think beyond vapid "freedom & liberty" rhetoric and wedge issues. Especially when a new shiny object (Obama) is put in front of them.

Palin has no plans of EVER running for public office again.
She is not going to say that she has no plans of running in 2012 because she wants to soak her admirers for every cent she can before she dashes their hopes and dreams.
If she came out and said it now a lot of the money she is currently making will dry up practically overnight.

Palin's campaign slogan could be "I'm With Stupid".

The last time a Iowa conservative group asked SP to speak at a reception, she told them without hesitation that would cost $100,000 (surprise) and they politely declined....claimed they wouldn't even have a fund raiser to help pay her fees.

Sarah, you can't charge audiences to hear about your policy or the lack thereof by charging the public to hear your message! She clearly needs a new babysitter.

Happy New Year!

Palin has never been a serious politician. She let a city manager run Wasilla. As governor, she was hardly ever at the capital, and she QUIT midterm.

The sands of time are not going to treat her well. It's flowing from her hour glass pretty rapidly at her age, and fancy pageant walking just isn't going to wear well on a shrill Reagan wannabe who is better suited for reporting the weather than serving in any decision making capacity in the Oval Office.

Three more years further along into the wrinkle cream, and Obama on the job the next three years, and she won't be able to hire enough Community Organizers to overcome the indelible image of her erstwhile and forgotten executive experience weighed against Obama, who will have been doing the heavy lifting while filling the office with grace and intelligence.

People, the scary thing is that she appeals to a very wide MId-western base. I have educated (?) relatives in the Midwest who think she's wonderful.

I'm just sayin'.
