Oprah Winfrey's Girls School

The 2007 opening of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls set a new benchmark for celebrity giving. the $40 million facility provides a top-notch education for young and impoverished South African women along with yoga and 200 thread-count sheets. Despite the shadow cast by sexual misconduct at the school, Nelson Mandela has praised Winfrey for her academy and believes that the facility "will change the trajectory of these girls' lives and it will brighten the future of all women in South Africa."
