Many of these photos look like going backwards in time, not to the future. Anyone remember Rudy Gernricht (hope the spelling is understandable and correct)? The sixties all over again?

I don't (can't) wear runway designs so I doubt I'll wear them in the future.

Why on earth did women ever start wearing dresses? You can't really run or do anything in them, they drag, get in the way. I know, the idea is to make girls look like appetizing cupcakes dressed up in doilies, helplessly teetering on high heels, so a hero can rescue them from the fate of...something.

Idiotic. Why no designer ever thinks of long, clean, soft, flowing lines when they think of the future is beyond me.

Comfort, comfort, comfort.

Gone are the good ol' days of fabulous fashion worn by the like of Audrey Hepburn, Leslie Caron, Grace Kelly, Jackie O, etc.
It's sad.

That is NOT 'fashion' they are only 'runway costumes' :)
When will designers stop pawing off 'costumes' as something women are actually supposed to wear!

Well that's clever. Who would ever think to make the Stealth Bomber into an outfit?

The thing with designers trying their hands at futuristic clothes is that they are doing so with no other context. When a sci fi writer comes up with evolved language or strange clothes, cultures, religions, etc, s/he has created a context in which those things make sense to the reader. Fashion designers have been doing the futuristic stuff for years and it always just looks stupid because there is no other information to support the whys and hows of the pieces.

so correct. Whenever a designer does "futuristic" fashion, it all comes out looking like a tired cliche. All angles, mod, black and white, spaceship hoo-ha. Extremely dated, unwearable, and costumey, if costumey is even a word. Future fashion will evolve like it always does, from the street up, from youth, and based on past silhouettes.

OR WE COULD SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT AND WEAR GARBAGE CANS/CARDBOARD BOXES/PLASTIC GARBAGE BAGS, ETC. IT WOULD SAVE ON POLLUTION AND IT WOULD LOOK AS GOOD AS ANYTHING THAT WALKS DOWN THE RUNWAY THESE DAYS!!!

That's the truth. My wife is addicted to Fashion TV so I get to watch a lot of runway shows. Can't believe some of the stuff presented as clothing for women.

I still like my jeans and chambray workshirts when I'm out and about.

Little Jamie is still wearing his toddler clothes.
