Elitist dating website BeautifulPeople.com has come up with one way to trim the fat heading into the new year: delete accounts belonging to those who have put on some holiday weight. Approximately 5,000 members have been axed so far, based on users' complaints that they weren't looking good after eating during the holiday season.
"As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld," site founder Robert Hintze told the BBC. "Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded."
Since the site went live worldwide in October 2009, it has strictly rejected all non-hotties. In November, statistics showed that BeautifulPeople.com had already refused membership to 1.8 million people from 190 countries, and users called British folks some of the ugliest on the globe. Swedish men and Norwegian women have the top admittance rates.
