Washington Independent:

Dale Robertson, a Tea Party activist who operates TeaParty.org, is getting stung for an old photo -- taken at the Feb. 27, 2009 Tea Party in Houston -- in which he holds a sign reading "Congress = Slaveowner, Taxpayer = Niggar."

After the ResistNet listerv promoted "Liberty Concerts" to be held by TeaParty.org, a source passed on this photo of Robertson, after the jump.

Keith Olbermann said it best (paraphrasing):

"Mr. Robertson, normally calling you an illiterate racist would be considered hyperbole, but this photo makes it merely a statement of fact".

I never heard of that word before I started to listen to rap music. All those white Republican rappers are filling our heads with racism. I cant believe in this age of Democratic control of the 3 branches that they don't make racism illegal and put all those who use this word in jail and let the taxpayer foot the bill. Then all those white Republican rappers wont be able to use that stupid first amendment to spout out that word and fill poor kids minds with that filth. We need to make sure that ALL GOP is voted out so that we no longer have any type of opposition and then they can change all the laws to keep people from being mean. I mean every time I watch a predominately Euro-American movie they call each other that word over and over like some term of endearment.

'White republican rappers'? ......oh geez'... well, maybe now you know who I felt the first time I ever heard someone refer to 'christian punk rock' or straight edge punk.
Just doesn't sit quite right, does it?

I guess no one ever thought it was spelled wrong on purpose for the simple fact that if it is spelled wrong, then you cant get in any real trouble for it.

So has anyone in the main stream media covered this story, or are they still too busy developing the meme that the "tea partiers" are just disenchanted patriots who suddenly came to the realization that deficit spending is bad once Obama got elected.

I'm not sure what else to say, but you must be a couple shades of stupid when you can't even spell "that word" correctly that you're own ancestors likely invented.

This is pretty revealing in a couple of ways. I a;ways suspected that there was a racial component at work when it came to the tea bagger movement. This is concrete evidence that proves my suspicions were correct.

It also reveals that this guy can't spell.

Not only is he drawing attention to his racism in a big stupid way, he proves his idiocy by spelling the word wrong.

This guy can't even be wrong right.

To be fair, this doesn't prove that the whole movement is racist. It just proves that the one guy is either insensitive or racist. I do think the movement is primarily motivated by Obama's race, but I don't think that one sign proves the point. It is merely one piece of evidence.

I have confronted racism on just about every level. I have a bi-racial daughter, and she grew up in a small town in Indiana. She was chased down the road by a truckload of racists when she was a Soph. in school. She had things thrown at her, told her skin looked dirty, they made fun of her hair, and was called unimaginable names. I was a single mother at the time, and would have gladly moved if I could have. I was told that I should not have moved here with my child, had a co-worker threaten to burn a cross in my yard, and even worse things. The school wanted to put my daughter in special ed. so the recist kids couldn't see her. My daughter was an honor roll student. Her self esteem will never be healthy, even though she graduated with academic honors from that school, and just graduated college. Double major, journalism/political science, and doesn't feel like she belongs enough to practice her skill. She is a brilliant writer.
I got off track, my daughter's view of herself breaks my heart. I knew the tea party was racist. I have dealt with it.....people who would never admit to it, but actions, and reactions show it. You can not hide feelings like that. Contempt shows...no matter how much you try to hide it.

He's not stupid enough to compare the teabagger movement and it's rabid right-wing ideology to slavery. Any other questions?

The age of the photo is really a moot point, because we all know that bigotry and racism, like diamonds, are forever.
