Well of course. Wherever bigotry is front and center, you will find the American Talibangelicals with their fat little hands in the cookie jar.

If we would tax churches, some of these people wouldn't have enough money to spread their poison to foreign countries.

Talibangelical bigots. Of course they are behind it. It's what they live for -- to oppress those they don't approve of.

I worked in the Middle East and the irony I saw was that because there was no dating or interaction between the youth, the only outlet for the young men was masturbation and consensual sex between them. On more than one occasion we would find these young workers tossing each other off somewhere around the rig. Whenever two young man were outed as homosexuals , the usual recourse was for one of them to freak out and kill the other, blaming him for perverting him.

Into this incredibly sexually freaked out society come these evangelists and they have hit a nerve center that orthodox Muslims refuse to look at. However, looking at the West and the U.S. , it's hard to cast aspersions at these backwards people. Several hundred years of advancement hasn't made a big positive impression here for gay rights or other forms of tolerance.

Repression of healthy sexuality is woven into ALL religious extremism - the rejection of the gift of pleasure and comfort comes at an enormous price...

Don't try to drag Islam into this story. Uganda is not ruled by Islamic law and Muslims are less than 20% of the population.

Sometimes I would just like to be able to open my eyes and to know that this level of hatred has been expunged from our world.

Ahh... how it is to dream of a perfect world that will never come...

The irony of this tragedy is that the Ugandans who advocate this heinous legislation say that they don't want Westerners to try to ram their values onto them. But when Christian fanatics from the West tinker around with Uganda's legislative process these same Ugandans are awfully quiet about Western "influences".

The Evangelicals have blood on their hands - which is exactly what they want. When you believe you are the living instrument of God's will, you are unquestionably - 1.) In the grip of an extremely serious delusion, and 2.) capable of justifying and/or rationalizing any behavior whatsoever...

I wonder why "they hate us"???? We seem to have the reverse Midas touch....everything we touch, turns to s@#t. How is this any different from radical Islam? Are they considered terrorists by the US, by Ugandan Gays?

Namely Rick Warren and crew, they were FOR it before they were against it.

No surprise here. I've never known any nation on the continent of Africa to be particularly gay-friendly with or without the influence of U.S. evangelicals.

And to think I saw this great food show about Uganda with Andew Zimern--or was it Anthony Bourdain?

These evangelicals are disgusting. They should be arrested for human rights violations. Their money and propaganda was used to take advantage of people who are really hurting and need real help. Rick Warren and the C-Street bunch should be held accountable especially the US senators and reps.

Agreed. And hypocritical to boot. If they truly believe in what they are doing, why do they feel the need to lie about it here at home? Didn't they think we would hear about it in this age of communication technology?

that's correct; those who claim to be good christians, yet do not show Gods' love, but instead show hatred to anyone unlike themselves, they are the taliban is this country.
religious fanatics, those who distort religion to impose rules and restrictions and to control people, are awful, no matter what religion they profess.
