Colbert Passes Stones With The U.S. Curling Team (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:05 PM ET

Stephen Colbert returned last night (in HD no less) and he picked up right where he left off: continuing his quest to make any U.S. Olympic team. He's attempted bobsledding, which he described as "riding down a hill in an open casket," to no avail, but perhaps curling is his sport of choice.

Calling it the sport of kings, "if your kingdom contains nothing but ice cold rocks," Colbert visited the Team U.S.A curling team. After learning about the soft, lotioned hands of the team members, Colbert grabbed a broom and began "passing stones." While his playing style revolved around screaming and mugging for the "broom cam," it would be shocking if we didn't see him in Vancouver with the squad.

i thought he was excellant in the one man sled,(although they didn't show the brownn spot he created at the end of his run) and had good style in the four man sled, but curling?
I think that if he wanted to get on a team, maybe table tennis, or gymnistics. He has that girlly kind of body, instead of the manly body needed in the sports he is trying to get in.....Yea, table tennis would be good for him.......

Alas, those sports are not in the WINTER OLYMPICS.... They won't occur until 2012 (you know, the end of the world year)....

well, that just gives him more time to perfect his table-tennis serve, or to learn how to do those sits-cows, and double-triple reverse with a half-moon twist, topped with whirl wind landing............who knowS, maybe he would be good in those sports.........

So, what are the brooms for? So they soften up the ice to make a runway for the stone?

The brooms help clear any debris off the ice as well as melt it a small amount to help the rock move faster and stay on track.
