Fred Phelps' Lady Gaga Parody: 'Your Whorish Face ... God Hates You'

In the 2010 media landscape, you are nobody if you're not maximizing your brand by messaging across multiple platforms and leveraging your Twitter presence and increasing your virality and Tumblarity and crap like that. So, credit the cretinous, anti-gay misanthropes at the Westboro Baptist Church for getting with the program and extending their brand identity with a new foray into viral song parody. Via Kansas City's The Pitch comes this latest creative semi-stillbirth from Fred Phelps' crew, a parody of Lady GaGa's "Poker Face," reworked as a reminder that the Martian monkey-god they worship hates everything and everybody.

The Westboro Baptist Church sermonizes: "However questionable they may be, Lady Gaga's talents were given to her by God; in return, she defies Him with all she does. This parody puts the truth to her 'Poker Face.'"

The song, which will give you an idea of what Lady Gaga's music would sound like if it were sung by somebody who is both tone-deaf and completely dead inside, features lyrics like: "You got a whorish face, it's a whorish face," and "God hates you." It's a banger!

I love parodies, but usually political ones are the funniest. That being said, I did listen to the one made about Lady GaGa and I have to admit I got a chuckle out of it. However, it's people like Phelps that give all you Libs fodder to ridicule religion,God, and everything and anything that dares to critize your morality as well as that of most of today's "entertainers". Here's where I don't agree with Mr. Phelps's view on this.. God does NOT hate anyone. He is a loving God, a patient God, but also a just God. He hates sin and all of us, including Mr. Phelps, are sinners. A sin does not have to be a big thing like murder or rape, it can include any form of stealing or cheating, lying, slander, hating others, etc. So before you point the finger at all churches or ALL Christians, please be mature enough to realize there are hypocrites who are religious and hypocrites who aren't. Unfortunately for Fred Phelps, he sends the wrong message to non-Christians and what he is doing is not Biblical because Jesus hung around the people society shunned like tax collectors, prostitutes, and lepers and he loved them
What Mr. Phelps needs to realize is the way to send non-Christians a message is to do it lovingly and not judge them as people but to judge the sin. Jesus will forgive anyone who humbles himself and asks for forgiveness, no matter what you've done.

I don't suffer from religion either but I do sometimes wish there was a God because I would like to see the look on the faces of people like Phelps, Falwell, Robertson, et al. when they have to face him. Now that is a funny image.

Rev Phelps hates inter-racial couples, though his daughter had a baby, out of wed-lock, with someone of a different race. If you can't control your family, don't try to control mine. God hates haters.

As for Fred Phelps and Co., they aren't exactly charmers. For those of you who do not recognize the name, this is the pastor who travels around to funerals of dead soldiers and spew hate and celebrate the death of American soldiers because the American government does not crack down on gays.Nice guy, nice church. Yeah.

They aren't aware that if it were not for those brave men and women, the funerals they are protesting, that their son's or daughters would be drafted to fight for this country they hate(scary thought huh?). Which apparently they really don't hate, because they are still in America. So it must not be bad enough to make them leave...

I don't see the church as having a way to win this one. They aren't going to hurt her feelings. The people that will hate her are the ones who already do, and the ones that love her will only cling to her more. Also , it gives her a lot of free publicity.

Lady Gaga looks like Nosferatu. I never even heard her music until the Westboro folks made an issue of her.

Her music is absolutely atrocious, and her fashion style is worse.

So, honestly to Westboro church--why are you giving her all this FREE publicity?
Your parody actually makes her seem sane in comparison to y'all. No one is taking Lady Gaga seriously enough to care. We were either blissfully unaware or intentionally ignoring her...either way you guys were further ahead before you made yourselves look like asses.

So that's what it is; I had been wondering. I only hope it's the kind of publicity they want! As to Lady GaGa, whom I never paid attention to before, they are what attracted my attention to her, and now when I see how much they hate her I'm beginning to kind of like her. Her styles are atrocious, purposely so, and she really is pretty funny, unlike Fred Phelps intentionally so. To me it is her sly humor and better voice that puts her a solid notch over Madonna at her best; she sounds like a Cher who could actually sing. Sure, great showman, she puts on a good Nosferatu horror show, but alas, Fred Phelps really does beat her in the horror department. Most refreshingly, perhaps, she's obviously a real musician, which would certainly be enough to make her stand out like Mt. Everest in today's pop musical vast wasteland. She's the first act in quite awhile that comes out with music that actually sticks in my head after the playhead stops. IMHO, if you can tolerate decadence (other than the Xtian variety,) what's not to like?
